Yankees Buying the World Series???

OK, so if we lose the Series it's "Yankees suck. They choked. They can't even buy the World Series." and if we win it's "They bought the World Series.  Of course they won, they have the highest payroll."  Yes, we have the highest payroll.  Is there some correlation? Probably.  But by that argument we should have won every single series of the 2000's (except the one year the Mets had the highest payroll).  And forget about the Marlins winning with the 5th lowest payroll that year.  But, what do they expect when you play for a large market - supply and demand, people! Kinda how it goes.  Salary caps? Not gonna happen with the union, right?  But, what's the solution?

What is your comebacks/thoughts on this argument that you know will be brought up by every Yankee hater IF we win this Series??

"Hating the Yankees is as American as pizza pie and income tax"...or something like that. LOL!

Tonight's Game

Yes it’s interesting that the Yankees had to come back home to finalize things.
Good for the Steinbrenner Mgmt team.

However, one thing is for sure,
to win the World Series on your own home field…………….priceless.

WHo cares...

let em bitch. That’s all a Yankee hater does anyway. Nothing but complaining.

Let em.

How about...

That is buying the Series is so easy, why don’t the Yanks win every year? It has nothing to do with how high the payroll is, but how they play on the field.

That’s what I’d say. But Bradshaw’s right- Just let ’em bitch. Any comeback or the like will fall on deaf ears anyway.

Yankee fans don't need to justify the payroll

I wish Yankee fans didn’t feel so self-conscious about this subject. Baseball doesn’t have a salary cap. The Yankees aren’t breaking any rules. Are they supposed to voluntarily limit themselves and not spend the money they have? Even the biggest Yankee hater would agree that to expect them to do that would be ridiculous. If they want to complain, let them, it’s not our problem. We’ll be at a parade and they’ll be crying in their beer.

What's good for Mayor Bloomberg, is good for the Yankees.

Who cares what other fans say

it’s jealousy. Yankees didn’t break any rules. Just let them hate and enjoy the championship.

You're Right!

I am self-conscious about it b/c that’s all I hear. My in-laws are all Philly fans (so this is an interesting WS to say the least) and it will be the talk around the Thanksgiving table. Not to mention, my sister-in law, who is all of a sudden on the Phillies bandwagon after not even knowing anything about them for the last 15 years she’s been with her husband. And now she’s their #1 fan and the biggest trashtalker. She says, “I just like the Phils because they are real guys who just love baseball. They aren’t in it for the money and out to be or date celebrities like the Yankees.” HUH!? WHAT!?!

Phillies have a huge payroll. So did the dodgers. The Red Sox do too. Angels do as well. How many good teams in baseball dont? Very few. That argument is absurd. Good teams are good teams with or without money. Yankees havent won in years, it obviously isnt the money. They need to come up with a new excuse, this one is tired.

The answer is

If the Yankees didn’t exist, you’d hate the Red Sox for spending so much money. You don’t hate the Yankees, you hate the rules.
