There's been a lot of good news this off-season, and it just keeps on coming (via MLBTR). What's next, the Yankees trade Phil Coke and Ramiro Pena for Felix Hernandez?

For a second

I thought you were actually serious and the Yankees had just traded those two for Felix Hernandez, only to be disappointed when I actually read the whole thing. That would be good news!!!!!

So Selig is gone after 2012? THANK GOD!!!!!!! Then somebody can actually make good decisions. Selig has made a total of ONE good decision that I agree with. His instating of the Wild Card. Other than that, what has he done? Made the All-Star Game mean something (which I guess isn’t THAT bad, seeing as the AL wins every year)? Completely ignoring the steroid era? Letting the World Series play into November? Thanks for the Wild Card Selig. But once you leave, trust me, baseball should be better (unless someone else stupid like George Mitchell becomes commissioner).

And also, now that you bring up Coke, he would be some nice trade bait. I mean, he’s young. He’s a lefty that can start or relieve. Maybe some team would take him for someone decent (hopefully).

not soon enough

Think of all the damage he can do in the next two-plus years. Forget about who his successor will be – will there be an MLB to commission by the time he’s done?

his last act

it looks like will be negotiating the new CBA in the ‘11-’12 off-season, so he still has a chance to do major damage.

the biggest change

will probably be the implementation of a mandatory signing system for draft picks similar to the NBA/NFL. Good for owners, bad for players. Selig has done enough damage during his reign.

Whoever takes his place...

I hope they finally reinstate Pete Rose. I don’t care what the guy did when he was managing, he was one of the greatest hitters of all time, and it’s a travesty that he isn’t in the HOF.

You know

I was considering writing a “Bud Selig is a douche” themed fanpost, but this pretty much sums it up.

This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.

eh

I’m not a fan of Selig at all but I highly doubt the replacement will be any better. With the players’ union being as powerful as it is, the owners are going to want one of their own as the commissioner, not an impartial outsider.

Good that Selig is leaving, but I'm afraid that the

fact that he ever got the position set a precedent that only other owners will be selected in the future. Let me be the first to nominate Hank Steinbrenner as the next Commissioner of Baseball.

Good riddance!

Some of Selig’s decisions were certainly questionable. Hopefully whoever replaces him can get baseball back to normal. First, keep the World Series in October. God forbid it ends up being played in November again, especially in cities like Minnesota, Cleveland, Detroit, or Milwaukee (among the northern cities most prone to early winter weather). It’s fortunate their teams suck now. Second, return the All-Star Game to the regular exhibition game it should be. In reality, it’s a meaningless game that in no way factor in which team hosts the WS. They should just return it to the league hosting the ASG to have home field like it was before. And so what if it ends up in a tie? There’s no need to exhaust the rosters like they did in 2008. The end result was that they ran out of players like they did in the 2002 game, only this time, they were forced to play until somebody won. UGGH! It didn’t even end until 2AM Eastern Time. Just what we needed! A meaningless game ending at a meaningless time!

Definitely long overdue for some fresh blood to run the game.

Maybe Pete Rose Will Get In Now And I Think Ricky Henderson Juiced

It’s way past time, what do you think. Does anyone think Ricky (Hall Of Fame) Henderson juiced. He’s in and Rose might never get in.
