Bob Sheppard Officially Retires

There was a link on mlb.com today that Bob Sheppard has finally decided to, officially, call it quits and retire from his role as Public Address Announcer. Here is the link.

Man, I'll really miss the guy. But 50+ years is a really good run. We'll still hear his incredible voice announcing Derek Jeter's every at bat as a Yankee. Still, after this long, it's really sad to see him go.

“I had problems breathing for a while, and then I had a loss of weight. Now I’m trying to build myself back up again to get back to the stamina that I had when I played football at St. John’s [University] many, many, many years ago, and life-guarding in the summer.”
