Just a rumor buuuuuuut.
"Bernie Williams made an announcement that he will make his return to baseball. He is expected to compete for the 2010 New York Yankees center field spot."
I am.....kinda conflicted. But imagine if he manages to put up solid numbers that are better than Melky AND whoever gets assigned to left field?? (I'm not expecting him to match the numbers of Swisher, I do expect him to prolly get just about a higher batting average.)

Source?
I’d love to see Bernie back but it seems reeeeally unlikely.
"Son, Nobody is half as good as Mickey Mantle"
Also, I heard this from Wikipedia with no citation......
Yankees all day.

should I go change it now then?

It probably hasn’t been updated since 2006.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
By the way, If you want a confirmation on whether this rumor can be reality.
We should really keep out on a lookout for him in the WBC.

he was in the WBC last year
and I saw a few of his ABs and in the OF. Believe me. He looked BAD!!!! Not just bad. He looked AWFUL!!!!!!!! I love Bernie, and maybe if he trained hard, he could get decent again. But I didn’t see anything in the WBC last year to convince me that he can still play baseball. I love Bernie Williams, but I think the next time he should be putting on the cleats should be as a coach. He’d be a terrific coach. But playing? I don’t think he can do it.
What is the source anyways? Where did you hear this? Because I haven’t heard anything about Bernie since his latest music album came out. I thought that Bernie was staying retired so he can spend more time on his music career (thats amazing isn’t it? Good enough at baseball and music to go pro at both).
Maybe when Brett Favre is done with the Vikings
we can stick him in center. He has the arm for it.
This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.
theres no Packers in baseball
for him to step up his game against. Whos gonna take that role? Red Sox?
Did anybody actually see Bernie's last year on the Yankees?
It was embarrassing. He was a shadow of himself in the field, and on top of that he hasn’t played in THREE!! years. He’ll be 40 years old. There is no way in hell he’ll play cf or any other position of the Yankees.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

Where's ndirish?
he’s wasting his time picking on established baseball writers at the other topic, when here’s an actual rumor he can bust on.
ndirish, where are youuuuuu? here’s your meat!!!
No,
as much as I would like to see this cinderella story unfold, it’s not goin to happen. He was a non roster invitee this year right?
VA Yankee since 93'
I Thought That Was A Courtesy
the Yankees extended to Bernie so he could train for the WBC.

Me too.
But I understand how that can be taken as offensive. When you were one of the biggest players on the team for the last decade and you have nothing but a guranteed Spring Training spot, I can understand how he would find that offensive.
