shocking
the MVP isn’t exciting if everybody knows who it’s gonna be months before they’re announced. An unexpected “upset” every once in a while wouldn’t hurt.
On the other hand, it’s gratifying when the winners are clearly the proper choice. Especially when the proper choice didn’t reach the traditional milestones (like leading the league in wins for Greinke and Lincecum).

yea...
I don’t understand…
If Pujols didn’t win….Selig should’ve hired a firing squad for the voters.
I guess that would be “unexpected”.
Nothing wrong with the correct MVPs and Cy Youngs.

Let me rephrase
I’d like to see an actual race in the MVP voting instead of one guy running away with it. I agree that Mauer and Pujols should have won. No doubt about it. But if it were closer, then it would be more interesting. Thats what I was trying to say. Because an “upset” probably would never happen.
Pujols isn't going to come back to Earth any time soon
So barring injury, the NL MVP race is usually over by the All-Star break.
