Coke Was the Right Move

Marte had pitched the last 2 days, and the Yankees weren't in the game when Coke came in.

I believe this to be true.

AJ was ugly, pushed by a tight strike zone.  The offense was quiet, but I expect this late eruption to carry over.

Travis will have the full write up soon.

Congrats Phillies

You took 1 of 3 in your home stadium, and even in your win you lead 8-2 and struggled to hold it down. I feel good about or chances.

Talking to the Phillies,

I was saying they took 1 OUT OF 3 games in their home stadium.

Hard to blame AJ

Who can pitch to a matchbox sized strike zone?

by Branta on Nov 2, 2009 11:30 PM EST up reply actions

That was the worst strike zone ever.but it even threw Lee off his game.

The only thing better than winning a repeat world series

Is goign to be winning a repeat world series by beating the yankees in 3 straight

by fleeb on Nov 2, 2009 11:30 PM EST reply actions

not even in a alternate universe will that happen. you’d have a better chance winning the power ball lottery

Thank God for making us Yankees.

by noonoo on Nov 2, 2009 11:32 PM EST up reply actions

This is the best loss you could ask for

Yanks still show they’ve got fight in them, didn’t lie down when they were down by 6 runs, came all the way back and had 2 different at bats where they could have tied it. They will win this on Wednesday.

NO MORE PITCHING TO UTLEY...

how about that one…sound like a good idea to me!!

5 er = tremendous

Utley just say i won this game for the phillies

by lololol on Nov 2, 2009 11:32 PM EST up reply actions

I respectfully disagree with that

maybe because I REALLY hate Coke right now, but I still disagree. I know Marte has pitched the last two days. If it’s the regular season, I agree with you. But this is the WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You go with you’re best pitcher. Marte rested for 4 months during the season, and he’ll have 6 more when this is over, plus tomorrow. He couldn’t pitch to two batters today? I think he could have.

I don’t think the fault goes to Coke, but we’d still be playing right now if not for him. The fault? That goes to Burnett. He was awful, and thats to be kind. I hope Pettitte has better fortunes on Wednesday.

Can’t wait for Wednesday. Right now? I’m exhausted.

GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!! 26 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS (guess I do get to write that again for another day).

by nyyrocks29 on Nov 2, 2009 11:32 PM EST reply actions

Yea...

Coke sucked.

Still, the good is he ate an inning.

Marte is fresh.

Let Coke rot.

It wasnt meant to be

We are still in the drivers seat, and going home. The corporate guys .. er fans at home get to cheer the Yanks on for another game. Coke, Burnett and everyone else gets a break here. We cant win every game.

NYY has not been great either

or didnt u see the Fox graphic that showed a NYY bullpen of 4.73
  outside of Rivera

BIG.

Outside RIvera.

The 9th is over when the Yankees have a lead.

The Phillies?

I don’t go by bullpen ERA in 5 games either. Useless stat, as evidence by Phil Hughes reverting back to form.

by FreeBradshaw on Nov 2, 2009 11:36 PM EST up reply actions

I am NOT dDisagreeing with you

all I said was the NYY bullpen was NOT that great
but they are GREAT at getting Tyan Howard to suck
and swing at every pitch

by DT1 on Nov 2, 2009 11:38 PM EST up reply actions

Don't worry, guys

You’ll get ‘em in Game 6. And you’ll get to do it in front of your own fans. See you then!

by SabreRoseTiger on Nov 2, 2009 11:33 PM EST reply actions

eh youll still win it anyway

game 5 was just for the phillies dignity to not allow the yankees to celebrate in their stadium…

The great thing about Lidge sitting is

He will be back, in the next game even, and that lack of confidence will show.

by Branta on Nov 2, 2009 11:35 PM EST reply actions

get a grip clown

NO lidge is done and the fact he dint move in this critical situation shows it

I'm fairly certain

Manuel had Lidge warming up alongside Myers at one point in that 9th inning. Perhaps you should pay attention instead of thinking of clever (not) insults.

Damn. Tex has been really unclutch at the plate as of late....

I was actually hoping he walked instead of attempting to score a runner. But regardless, real good shit from the Yankees.

Yankees all day.

Here's how Wednesday will go down

Andy will allow an early run, but by then he’ll already have a 4 (now 3) point lead. Joba strikes out 2 in a 1-2-3 7th, and Mariano finishes up the year with another 2 out save.

by Branta on Nov 2, 2009 11:38 PM EST reply actions

can someone explain to me ..

How was Cliff Lee “Dominate”?? 7ip 5 runs?

I know people are killing AJ but

if we pitched Gaudin and lost, then it comes down to AJ and CC. I feel more confident with a tired Andy than with AJ or even CC for that matter. Andy has been here before, he can harness his emotions better than either of them.
