Any news on Melky?
After leaving last night's game limp, I have yet to hear, read or see to what extent his injury is. Does anyone have any new information on what happen and if he will play tonight? He really hasnt been a huge help at the plate, but I think it would be tough to ask Gardner to come in and be affective. So if you have any information please forward that and play on Yanks! Play on!

Sweeny Murti is reporting that Melky is probably not playing tonight. Which brings up the possibilities:
1) Gardner in CF — which makes the 7, 8, and 9 hitters Gardner, Molina, Burnett. eek.
2) Johnny in CF and Godzilla in LF.
3) See option number 1 and consider putting Rodriguez 3rd in lineup and Tex clean-up.

Melky’s wOBA this year: .331, Gardner’s was .337. I’m not saying Gardner was/is better or is even Melky’s equal since he has delivered often this postseason. However, as they posted on fangraphs earlier today, it’s the case of two similar batters, one with great defense, another with average. Either way, I don’t think the difference will be big (if noticeable at all) enough to play Damon and Matsui in CF and LF, respectively, in over a year.

definitely NO on option 2....
Matsui doesn’t see the OF, not now.
and option 3? Really?
yea, it DOES make sense…but you don’t switch the top half of the lineup right now…you just can’t do that.
