The Sabathia Addendum
Has it sunk in yet that Sabathia has yet to win a World Series game?
10.17 Winning And Losing Pitcher
(a) The official scorer shall credit as the winning pitcher that pitcher whose team assumes a lead while such pitcher is in the game, or during the inning on offense in which such pitcher is removed from the game, and does not relinquish such lead
File this under jscape's crazy ideas if you want to:
Rule 10.17a:
No pitcher shall be awarded a win during a game in which he recorded a blown save and pitches 1 inning or less. In such a case, the win shall be credited to the pitcher of record when the reliever entered the game. A reliever who blows a save and pitches more than 1 effective inning subsequently may be eligible for the win.

Sunk in?
It was my first thought when Feliz homered :( really wanted CC to get a win, but I’m hoping we can win this series without a Game 7.

Just shows you’re smarter than me.

Big deal
CC pitched great. Yanks won. End of story.

By your rule...
.. wouldn’t Marte get the win? Would that make you happier?
Honestly, I liked how Joba looked with his 3 Ks. Mistakes happen, one run leads are not automatic wins, and this was WAYYY batter than bad Joba from late in the season. Hell, when Feliz homers on you, you know it’s just an alignment of stars and planets or something.

Sabathia was in line to be the winning pitcher before the blown save. I think he should get the win.

They won who cares
who gets the statistic? Just sayin’.

Yeah, it’s minor. I think wins as a stat are dumb and should be done away with all together, but since they’re part of the tradition of the game, I was just trying to think of ways to award them in a way that is more accurate.

Fair enough
Theres rules in everything in life that seem dumb or unjust, but i’m sure CC is happy right now. He seems like a total team player.

great idea
i never liked how pitchers who blow a save wind up with a W so often

I like the idea...
I think its both a who cares, they won…
as yea, CC deserves the win.
Its something that in the future a fool would look at and say CC stinks, he’s got no WS wins…that’s probably it.
A minor annoyance.
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a non issue
This isnt like Refrigerator Perry scoring a TD in the SB instead of Walter Payton. Ask CC if he wants personal stats, or a WS trophy. The only new stats I think should added is the team error, and the team blown save or whatever the hell you want to call it. For instance KRod gets a blown save because Castillo drops a routine pop up? That is not right.

I support that. Wins and losses should be team stats, too.
