Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Nick Swisher

This just in from Bob Nightendale of USA Today... The Yankees are hearing offers for Nick Swisher.  I'm not really sure who they'll have play right field.  They could put Melky there and have Gardner play center.  But then that puts big pressure on them to resign Damon and Boras knows exactly how to handle that situation.  Do you guys have any thought?  Should the Yanks trade Nick Swisher.  I don't really think the Yanks should trade Swisher unless he is part of a package to get someone good (like Crawford or Doc Halliday) into NY.

I doubt Swisher is going anywhere

most likely, he’ll be right there standing in Fenway Park, ready to play right field on opening day next year. I can’t see them trading him. He was so valuable to the team this year. If they can use him instead of Montero/Jackson to get a big time player, then sure, go for it. But otherwise, he’s staying in NY.

its hard to see anyone leave a team

after a championship season. Swisher may not have batted .275+ but he brought a fresh attitude to the clubhouse to help the team this year…. the 28+ HRs didnt hurt either.

Personally i would hate to see the yankees trade away our best prospects for undeniably a great, but still aging (or not young), pitcher. He’ll be 33 next year and showed a few signs of wear and tear this year. Im also slightly concered with his 246 innings in 08 and 239 in 09. Hes coming off two great career years with 9 complete games each of his past 2 years and a 2.78ish ERA. Thats just the pessimistic side of me though. Obviously AJ had a lot of negatives looming after him when he signed and he stayed healthy and pretty productive all season.

Guess we’ll see how the deals go down. Obv Doc, CC, and AJ would make a very formidable 1-2-3 punch, but i would be careful at what expense.

here's a

conflicting report from The Post.

it really doesn’t make sense to trade Swish. he’s not yet 30 and had a very good year (and is still signed on the (relative) cheap for another 3 seasons).
