Favorite and Least Favorite Non-Yankees
Everyone on Pinstripe Alley loves the Yankees (well, maybe not trolls). And for the most part, we love the players that are ON the Yankees. However, there are many more players around baseball. 29 other teams. We have to like some of them. And I'm sure that we hate some of them too. So, I want to ask, who is your favorite, and least favorite, non-Yankee around baseball?
For me, my favorite is Joe Mauer. For my least favorite, I'm torn between David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez (I'm sure you know why).

If you’re a good player with a positive attitude who isn’t on, or hasn’t played for the Red Sox, I’ll like you. If you are on the Red Sox and are a good player who plays the game right and doesn’t hurt the Yankees when you play them, I will like you once you leave the Red Sox.
Ha
That seems to be the right sentiment.

Hate Papelbon and Beckett. Hate their faces, hate everything about them.
They’re good players but I hate their attitude. I always loved Junior Griffey when I was a kid.. Dude was an absolute freak in the outfield and killed it at the plate. He was pretty much the epitome of cool when he’d wear his hat backwards during the homerun derby.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
Griffey Jr. was awesome
loved it when him and his dad hit back to back HR. That will NEVER happen again. It’s tough to even imagine father and son ever playing on the same team again, and yet to hit back to back HR?
That was pretty incredible. Always liked Griffey Jr. Like him even more now, because since he resigned w/ Seattle, there’s more of a chance Matsui resigns, since it’s one less place for him to go.
Agree on Griffey
I like Seattle players in general. They have a cool vibe to them. Also, they’re non-threatening.
right now Seattle players are ok
hasn’t always been that way though. 1995 was heartbreaking.
Still, our best player came out of Seattle, so they can’t be all bad.
All time vs. Current
All time, Yaz would scare me senseless, but I always had respect for the guy’s game.
Currently, Carl Crawford and Chase Utley are a lot of fun to watch, as is Ryan Howard.
favorite non-NYY/most hated
I love Ichiro – the guy is cool to watch and exudes class.
I hate Youklis (he’s replaced Millar as my least favorite player) – why does he have to look so constipated while being a jackass?
My favorite non-Yankee has always been Vladimir Guerrero
because where else are you going to see someone take a ball in the dirt and hit a 420 foot home run?
Now plenty of my least favorite players have or do play for the Red Sox (lookin at you Schilling), but to break the trend, I would say that my least favorite non-Sawks player is Justin Morneau. Something about him beating Jeter for his MVP award or beating Josh Hamilton in the HR derby at the Stadium after Hamilton was an absolute freak just irritated me. I’ve always felt that even though the Twins don’t get a ton of love, he was always overrated and couldn’t pick up Joe Mauer’s dry cleaning. Or maybe just because he’s Canadian.
I also hated Steve Traschel because he would take a lunar month between each pitch.
This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.
I hate Timo Perez
cuz in the Subway series, a few jackass NY newspapers said he was better than Paul O’Neil.
Favorite non-Yankee is Prince Fielder. Looks like a Nose Tackle, Hits like Ruth.

Even though he's a sock,
you’ve got to show Pedroia some love. He plays hard and above his talent but keeps it clean. Also the MLB 2K9 commercial? C’mon!
For me though, Jose Reyes is probably the most fun non-Yank to watch and I cannot stand the site of Papelbon. I hope his arm falls off.
Forgot about Paplebon
he may be worse than Ortiz. Why does he have to do that thing with his lips before every pitch? He looks like an idiot
All time...
Loved Eddie Murray (i’m 45 years old)…switch hitter w/ good power and average, great glove, good guy. Hated and Feared George Brett. Although I did respect him as a ball player, the pine tar debacle, on which MLB ruled incorrectly, showed me what a putz he was. Biggest tool is/was Schilling….
Currently, enjoy Pujols/Mauer, dislike entire Red Sox team, and most of all its owner John Henry, who never passes up an opp’y to stick his foot in his mouth.
Favorites
All time: Jackie Robinson or Hank Aaron
Current: Cliff Lee
Least favorites:
All time: Jose Canseco
Current: Papelbon

Very good choices, but don't forget Youk
"You don't realize how easy this game is until you get up in that broadcasting booth." Mickey
+ Ichiro / - Papelbon
all time hated would be Schilling
all time liked (that I actually saw play) would probably be tony gwynn
Gwynn was cool
although for some reason, I always liked Cal Ripkin Jr. more. He’s probably my All-Time favorite. Both were awesome players, and both inducted together. That was pretty cool.
Favorite non-Yankees
Favorites: Vlad Guerrero, Torii Hunter, Chase Utley (not so much anymore after the 5 home run world series!), Prince Fielder (gotta love him flopping around the field).
Least Favorites: Manny, Manny, Manny. Gary Sheffield. Curt Schilling (I know he’s retired but there’s enough hatred there to last forever).

Likes and dislikes
Loved Maddux and Orel Hershiser
Hate Pedro and Varitek
Managers: Loved Earl Weaver Hated Lasorda
Mine are
All-Time Favorites:
Cal Ripken Jr. (got to see him play a lot while living in MD)
Gary Carter
Current:
Halladay and Cliff Lee
Dislikes:
All-time: I’ll throw Schilling on here as he’s the only guy I can think of for the last 30 years that makes me mad when he opens his mouth. Bonds is a close 2nd.
Current: Jimmy Rollins, Youkilis, Papelbon
I don’t hate anyone. I have a healthy respect for a lot of rival team players, but I just can’t stand the ones that are so cocky and full of crap that you see their face and want to hit it.
I like anyone who exudes class and professionalism and quality leadership skills. I also like players that want the ball (I gained a lot of respect for John Lackey when he was upset when Scioscia took him out of that game).
I hate Jimmy Rollins
Pedro doesnt acctually bother me that much (if thats even imagineable)
LOVE: maure, he is classy and a great player. Jake Peavey, he is a great player and it would be nice to see him win.
HATE: Paplebon, Youkliss, Pediroa, Beckett.
I would put Pedro but hate is not a strong enough of a word for him, throwing Zim on the ground, still havent gotten over that, and saying he was the most infulential player to go into Yankee Stadium just cause the chants and then listening to the fags on FOX agreeing made me Hate him more then anyone person in history, i guess since the phillies fans were booing A-rod and Jeter and the whole crowd was chating aganist them makes them the most important players in Citizens bank park history, I HATE PEDRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i don't really like beckett...
but that’s mostly because he’s killed us over the years. If we got him next year in free agency, I would probably change my mind if he pitched that well for the Yankees.
I wouldn't want them to get Beckett
he’s too inconsistent in the regular season. Plus, I’d really not have a headhunter on this Yankees team. I’ve never liked Beckett much.
I’d MUCH rather they signed Halladay or Lee next year rather than Beckett.
Beckett is the type you love to hate..especially if he's on the Pissants
but the headhunter thing is wrong, he’s really not a headhunter. He will throw at the other team…but that’s the sort of pitcher I want on the team, someone who will protect his teamates (tho I know the Mike Mussina —fear of throwing at you..can work too)
Why do we keep having to suggest the best possible option?
How do you MUCH rather they sign Halladay and Lee over Beckett? Beckett’s younger and been doing what Lee does in the playoffs since he came into the league
I wouldn’t think he signs with the Yankees tho. He seems to be one of those Red Sox players that fall in line with the Yankee hate.
