The Yankees have officially declined their 2010 option on Sergio Mitre. He still remains under their control and is arbitration-eligible.
LoHud
Makes sense. They must be confident they can win an arbitration case and bring him back for less than $1.5M

I'd like to bring him back
He pitched like crap, but coming off TJ surgery…and early recovery too, not many guys do pitch well coming off that.
He’d be a nice backup option in AAA.
Hopefully they keep him.

he'd be stupid not to accept
arbitration… he’ll be back.

TJ surgery
Mitre was pretty atrocious in the NL before he had TJ surgery also. If I ever have to see him pitch in a Yankee uniform again it’ll be too soon.
