Deservedly so. 2-5 were, in order, Felix, Verlander, Sabathia and Halladay

yeah...

that’s pretty much the order I would have put them in as well. Greinke far-and-away deserved it, he was dominant on a horrible team.

Looking at the overall stats of each of the guys- the order makes sense. If the award was “MOst Valuable Pitcher” – CC wins it hands down, because the Yanks don’t win it all this year with out him. But that’s not what the Cy is. Greinke had the best season on the mound in a Majors, no doubt- and with a little offense behind him it’s scary to think how many wins he could have had.

I think CC should be ahead of Verlander

but obviously Grienke deserved to win it all. He’s a great pitcher. Wonder if we’ll ever see him wearing the pinstripes?

not for nothing...

the guy was treated for an anxiety disorder. It’s amazing he can even get out there and pitch if front of all those fans- and a testament to how talented he really is. But the New York spotlight? Might be too much. Pure speculation on my part, but it would be an experiment taking him out of a small-market situation.

True

but his talent would be wasted by just playing on small market, last place teams. He’s too good for that and he deserves a shot to win. Being on ANY good team, whether it’s the Yankees, Blow Sux, Muts, Twins, Cardinals, Tigers, Phillies, ANY good team, is going to be pressure. Pitching in the postseason is the biggest stage, regardless of who you are playing for. You have to wonder if he would be able to handle the postseason pressure. Or will he just always be a really talented pitcher that is only talented on a team WITHOUT pressure?

It’s tough to say, but I think the Yankees should take a shot at him when he becomes a free agent. He’s really young, and really talented. It would be a risk because of his past problems, but it’s a risk I would be willing to take.

Verlander is too high, but otherwise that's right

I would never want to see Greinke in pinstripes…his mental health history does NOT bode well for pitching everyday in the largest media market.

Which is healthy for baseball, really…we don’t NEED every other team’s franchise player. I think it would be criminal if we landed Pujols or Mauer.

Should CC have won?

A lot of Yankee fans think CC Sabathia should have gotten more Cy Young consideration. Check out these visuals comparing the 2009 seasons of Sabathia, Hernandez, and Greinke. It’s pretty obvious where CC stands from looking at these.
