Our Left and center situations

This offseason will not be a big one for the Yankees.  However, I can see them signing a left-fielder and trading for a starting pitcher.  Marlon Byrd is an excellent choice for left and he can hit sixth (behind Matsui who we should sign).  It's time to let Damon walk and Robbie Cano should be hitting in the two-spot anyway.  A trade for a quality three starter or the signing of Jarrod Washburn, plus the resigning of Andy Pettite fills our rotation holes.  You guys have any more ideas?

Marlon Byrd?

A RH hitter who can’t hit lefties?

Dude was pretty awful outside Arlington too (like basically all of Texas’ players).

PASS.

I dont think they’d have to trade for Washburn either, I think he’s a FA. (I’d be OK with Washburn as if a few other options fall through tho).

wow...

by .03….

Its batting average anyway….doesn’t mean a whole lot.

He OPS’ed less than Melky Cabrera away from home.

step your research up.

Robbie is pretty slow and prone to double play grounders. Cant be slow if you want the 2-spot and have the penchant for turning 2.

Cano

is better with no one on base, which he’ll get more in the 2 spot. And there are less double play chances in the two spot than the 5/6 spot. So that makes no sense. Cano is gaining on Damon with his speed with his bad knees and hamstrings anyway.

Jeter bats first ....in case you forgot.

Jeet gets on base 40% of the time…just as much as anyone in the lineup who would bat ahead of Cano.

There are not less chances for the DP in the 2 hole.

That said…I like Cano in the 2 hole. He makes a lot of contact and maybe putting him in the 2 hole is the spark this guy needs to finally go off and have the big season we all know he’s capable of.

Cano’s actually nearly as good as he is with no one on as he is with a man on first, so may be better off in the 2 hole where Jeet’s gonna get on more.

…this is if they don’t have Damon.

Cano

needs to learn to be more patient at the plate before he could be a 2 hitter. That’s why Girardi would play Swisher in the 2 when Damon was out, Swisher gets fewer hits, but gets on base much more.

I agree that's why Swisher was a better #2 hitter.

tho, that’s Cano’s game.

He’s an incredible first pitch hitter.

Tho, he should learn to listen to DJ more (who is also an excellent first pitch hitter).

Patience isn’t Cano’s problem, its better selectivity at the plate.

I think

that Damon should stay and play DH/LF. I’d rather have him than Matsui because Damon has the ability to play the OF. The restrictions put on Matsui will make it difficult to DH Posada for some games, Jeter and A-Rod for some games, and keep everybody healthy, and happy, at the same time. I’d like to bring Matsui back, but if may be a difficult situation.

Mark DeRosa a Yankee?

Who knows he might turn out to have a breakout Ben Zobrist esque kind of season.

Yankees all day.
