AJAX in the Outfield?
What are we waiting for with AJAX? I mean he looks alot better than Ransom and on par with Duncan, but he can seem to make it on the 40 man. Granted they are not the same positions, but the OF is the problem area with Damon and Matsui being FAs, Gardner and Nady, Melky and Swisher. Is there a chance we will get a look at AJAX in 2010? Let me know what you think or if you have heard some rumors.

Anyone's better than Ransom...
and if he really is on par with SHelley Duncan…that’s more reason to let him stay in the minors for another year (hopefully he becomes better than AAAA Duncan…)
More like 2011 anyway unless there’s some major injury.
He’s not ready yet.

He’s getting there… I’d say he’s up halfway through the year- but let’s see what he does in the spring. He’s not even officially on the 40-man roster yet.

He's gonna need another half season at last in AAA to get some of those striekouts down.
He’s much better than Ransom and Duncan put together. He’ll be called up if he starts to destroy Scranton ir if somebody gets seriously hurt in the OF.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

Debut, sure.
Jeter debuted in ’95. Arod in ’94.
Neither really became a player until ’96.

It depends on whether he's ready or not
I don’t think he’s going to be a power hitter. He hit .300 in AAA, which is excellent. He’s got speed, he’s a good defender, and he’s got a lot of potential. I hope he could get those Ks down though. He K’s WAY too much. However he still did manage to hit .300, so it’s the Yankees decision. If he’s ready, then I think he deserves a shot.
I do NOT want to wake up one day and hear that he, along with Montero/Joba/Hughes/Melky has been traded for some big player. I really don’t. I would be ticked off if they did. I want the Yankees to try and develop these guys. They have a great chance to become great players with the Yankees. I don’t see the sense in blowing all of them off for Roy Halladay or, from what I’m hearing, Curtis Granderson (NOOOOO). Keep the young guys. You don’t need these extra stars to compete. You have enough. I REALLY hope these guys don’t get traded.

I've said it a lot too
Gotta preserve the farm. Montero, Ajax, Hughes, and maybe Chamberlain should all be on the untouchable list.
Can’t wait to see the first 2 play, and the later two to grow and succeed.

This isn’t like last year where they were desperate for players. They aren’t desperate. They have problems just like any team, but not problems that need trading away the entire farm system. I could handle giving away one of Joba/Hughes, but any more would really tick me off. Particularly Montero. From what I’ve heard, I’m really excited about him. I mean, people think he’s going to hit 45 home runs a year!!! And in Yankee Stadium? I think he could become a big star. Hang on to him please.

Yea
Exactly. Montero, at least for me, is the most exciting prospect in the Yankees system right now. He may not be a great fielding catcher but he could be a nut if he plays DH. Even if he has to play catcher, get that bat in the lineup!

I think...
AJAX has one more year before he would be exposed to the rule 5 draft. He’s not ready for the majors right now, so there really is no reason to put him on the 40 man roster.

No, it's a bad point.
He needs a 40 man spot this year or he will be the first pick in the Rule V draft. He needs protection this year.

This will be his 5th year in the system ergo he is eligible.

Yeah, wrote that before realizing he was eligible.

I think this will be the year that AJAX makes not only the 40 man roster, but gets to see time in the show. I predict that we’ll have some injury problems (ooh bold statement there ekw). This will be at the perfect time to see Mr. Jackson get some time in the outfield. How he’’ll perform? Who knows. Regardless, I’m willing to bet that we see AJAX sometime in the real stripes in 2010.

I'm worried...
that we would see a repeat of the failed F-Mart experiment the Mets tried last year. He was obviously not ready for the show, and you never know how much that could mess with the player’s psyche.

Give him a good look in Spring Training
and figure it out.
Sign FA’s assuming he goes to AAA for another season. Then buy him a commuter pass on the Scranton bus.
Then if he forces his way to the Bronx, great

F-Mart was thrust into a starting position prematurely out of necessity
That wont happen to ajax.

yea..
too much pressure on him. He was supposed to be the man from day one with all their injuries.
Even if AJAX started THIS year in CF for the Yanks, (be it winning out of ST or multiple injuries) he’s nothing more than the #9 hitter in a stocked lineup.
No where near the situation of F-Mart and the Mets.
