Yankees may trade for Granderson

NY POST- Granderson trade

This could be a good fit. Lefty with power, 30 Home Runs in the not so HR Friendly park in Comerica. The kid is fast, steals alot of bases and is a way better fielder then Damon. You could move Jeter back to the number 2 spot, throw Curtis at the number 1 and you have a pretty damn good leadoff hitter who will probably hit over 30 Home Runs at Yankee Stadium as well as well over 30 SB's in all likelyhood. Is he worth giving up A-Jax for? Let the debate begin, I say he may be. He is proven already, and kills the Yankees whenever we play. He is atrocious vs. Lefties though, hitting around .180. Nice ploy regardless for Boras to let him know we have better options available at the right price. Plus Granderson would be cheaper than Damon.......comments??

I haven't seen them wanting to trade Granderson...

why they would, I don’t know (if they did the Yanks should try…)

But this is bull……

Haven't seen this ...

anywhere. I agree with Rangers94, Granderson is their Jeter. No way do they trade him to the evil empire.

Yes, it's definitely true

The news yesterday morning was that the mid-west teams are looking to dump salaries because of the economy. I guess they are really hurting. Obviously Cleveland already did it, but also Detroit and Cincy.

Mike Cameron

is he a FA? If so they might want to sign him for a year or two and skip Granderson. I like him, he’s got heart but the price might be too high to get. Save the prospects for either Halladay or Felix (not likely).

If it includes

AJAX… deal breaker. Granderson is terrible against lefties, which virtually makes him a platoon player. Sure he has in the past shown that he is a very good player, but I would not willing to trade AJAX for him.

Agreed...

This trade would be a big mistake.
.210/.270/.344
Those are his career numbers against Lefty pitching. Those are the numbers of a platoon player. Considering what he would most likely cost in a trade, this is NOT a deal that the Yankees should make.

I'd rather keep AJAX than even trade him for Granderson.

AJAX actualyl seems like a Granderson type player, except he’s cheaper and younger.

I really don’t see much of a point if the deal includes AJAX.

AJAX

What are we waiting for with AJAX? I mean he looks alot better than Ransom and on par with Duncan, but he can seem to make it on the 40 man. Granted they are not the same positions, but the OF is the problem area. Is there a chance we will get a look at AJAX in 2010?

Actually Granderson DOESN'T steal alot of bases, he doesnt even get on base that well

strikes out a ton, has terrible splits vs lefties and isn’t that great in the field anymore. On top of that he’s owed 23 million dollars over the next three years. All he does is run into a few homeruns. They’re gonna want a shit ton of prospects for him.. no thank you.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

Granderson

Granderson had an off year in 2009 but he had OPS’s of .913 and .858 in 2007 and 2008 with OBP’s of .361 and .365. He can hit anywhere in the lineup, he can play all 3 outfield positions, and being signed for 23 mil over 3 years is a positive not a negative. Damon could conceivably get that for 2 years. I’d definitely be interested as long as we didn’t have to give up Joba, Hughes or Montero.

No Thank You

Unless NYY doesn’t have to give up Hughes, Joba, Montero, AJax, and any other up and coming players. If Detroit is just trying to dump salary, it might work. Still, a major leaguer even if he bats left, should hit better than .183 or so against lefties. NYY’s OF in 2010 may look like RF Swisher, CF Melky/Gardner, LF either Damon or Nady if idiot Boras still thinks Damon is equal to Jeter.

I like Granderson, a lot. He’s a good player in his prime, a media angel, and can put some out on the short porch… But AJAX? I don’t think so…

by ekwfan6 on Nov 13, 2009 1:48 AM EST reply actions

NO WAY!

Have you misplaced your brain?! Forget Granderson all together and think about why you would want to move Derek Jeter out of the leadoff spot with the season he just had. He hits into a lot of double plays…

by Fluke on Nov 13, 2009 2:27 AM EST reply actions

KEEP AJAX

AJAX is one of the better OF prospects to come thru the farm sense Bernie, I dont give him up, thought we were done giving up young prospects for older players… GIve the kid a chance….

by cmypath78 on Nov 13, 2009 12:59 PM EST reply actions

???

Isn’t his on-base percentage like .320? And he can’t even hit .200 against lefties. Why would you want a guy who doesn’t walk or hit lefties to lead off your lineup?
