Your All '00 Yankees
My first SB Nation and Pinstripe Alley Fanpost! Yey!
I thought it would be nice to contribute to a site that has given me a lot of entertaining reads over the last few months. This Yankees blog has the most well informed regulars that I feel like I'm learning more and more about baseball just by browsing through the articles and the comments section. Anyway, I thought if I was going to start up a discussion, it might as well be about something fun and addictive and for me, it always comes down to making lists.
My buddy and I started talking about who the all decade Yankee team should be. Next thing you know, we've been talking and arguing over all the spots for 6 hours. Time flies when you're talking about the Yankees, it seems.
So here's the ground rules. Pick and choose from every Yankee from 2000 to 2009. Playoff line up applies so it's a 25 man team. 9 offensive starters, 4 starting pitchers, then split the remaining 12 with relievers and bench players. You can just load it up with players you like or you can think carefully on every position player you need (pinch runner, long man, etc). And it's up to you on what you want to prioritize (someone who won a championship or someone who had a long productive service). My buddy put Sabathia over Mussina cause CC won a title, but I went with Mike cause he produced over a longer period of time. You can include good chemistry guys like Swish or someone who's produced in clutch situations like Aaron Boone or just your favorite random player like Cervelli. It's up to you.
Enjoy the discussion and thanks again for being such an entertaining and informative site.

Rules didn’t say they had to play the positions they played while with the Yanks.

Rondell White had a solid MLB career. He doesn’t deserve to be on that list. Ditto Raul Mondesi.
Karim Garcia and Gerald Williams, on the other hand…
