Whenever I see the 2004 extra-inning game (the one where Jeter dove into the stands) on Yankees Classics I think, “Oh, that was a great game.” When I think about Game 7 in 2003, my heart rate goes up. This is the kind of game that’s going to send my heart rate up.

I generally like what Girardi did in G1

Put in Hughes in a danger spot, then Joba for an inning, then Mo.

But this was a close game, and we didn’t know how long it would go, so to blow Joba on 2, then Coke on 1, then Hughes on 2 (even if he had trouble). Just not good bullpen management.

This isn’t Little League…you don’t have to try and get everyone in.

that was certainly the latter. it’s inexcusable for a professional umpire to miss a call that blatant. that’s the bottom line.
