Who is the X-Factor for the Yanks to win the WS?
Will Alex Rodriguez be effective in the MLB playoffs this year?...or will he ‘choke' again?
You know that's what the MSM folks will be asking, analyzing, and pretty much laying the additional pressure on A-Rod. I've been an A-Rod fan for a very long time and while he might have displayed good judgment in his personal life and again with the admitted ‘roid usage, but the guy definitely has talent and respected work ethic.
He missed well over 30 games this year and still managed to get 30hrs+ 100Rbis for the 13th time in his career. A huge accomplishment? Probably not if you're A-Rod...just another year in this league to him. Out of all the individual accolades and awards he's gotten, he's still missing that World Series ring.
I think he's definitely going to be the X-factor on whether the Yankees can make it to the World Series and win it. There are a lot of offensive weapons on the team and the pitching is really clicking right now. As in the regular season, I think the Angels will give them the best run, but I think they can manage to pull it off if A-Rod doesn't make key mistakes. I'm not only talking about at the plate...I've seen him half-ass some defensive plays, but I know he was favoring his hip earlier this year. Hopefully, he and the rest of the squad is healthy and ready to go.
Either way, I'm excited the playoffs are here...

Cano, Robinson
will be the X-Factor.
I still think they can win somehow with him being the NOO MVP.
But if he hits like normal Robby, in all situations, the Yankees won’t lose a game.

The X-factor will be...
AJ Burnett. If we get the AJ that 1 hit the Red Sox, we are unbeatable. If we get the shaky AJ that gives up 5 or 6 runs, we will have a tough time in the ALCS and WS.

AJ Burnett
Good AJ = WS
Bad AJ = SW (sad winter)

Alex...
did great tonight! broke that horrid streak that had me hurting every time a red sox fan mentioned it. 2-4 2 RBIs, 3 feet away from a 2 run HR. good game for him, have to watch as it progresses.
AJ is my favorite starter. I hope he does good on Friday but who knows. for a starter, he is extremely unpredictable, and it scares me a little

this is a team.
while yes, there may be an “x-factor”, i dont really believe that a single team member can help win or kill a world series. sure they can make key play or clutch hit, but otherwise, nah.
i did vote for arod tho. he’s gonna make all his haters suck it.

Tough to say...there are so many weapons
But IMO the offense revolves around Jeter and Arod. I believe the team feeds off of them for completely different reasons. Jeet as a rally guy,a table setter and a clutch guy. Whereas ARod this year IMO is finding a clutch groove, and is looked to for big XBHs.

I truly think the X factor is CC
Because he is the one pitcher that’s capable of putting on a Johnson-esque, Schilling-esque, Beckett-esque performance.
If CC pitches like he has been, we’re in a position to win every game he starts. If we can do that, we just need to win half of the games started by everybody else and we’re good to go.

CC=WS
CC is the kind of shutdown starter we’ve been missing since Clemens was injecting himself in the ass. CC has the kind of presence and persona that refuses to lose. We’ll go as far as his left arm.

I'm not sure I'd...
Considere the highest paid player and the highest paid pitcher in baseball to be “X” factors. In the previous Yankee championships there was always someone unexpected who rose to the occasion. In 96, Graeme Lloyd, Jeff Nelson and David Weathers turning crappy regular seasons into greatness in the playoffs. In 98. El Duque beating Cleveland in the must-win ALCS game 4, in 99 we were so dominant in the playoffs that we didn’t really need an unsung hero, and in 2000 I guess it was Luis Polonia, Jose Vizcaino and Luis Sojo getting huge hits against the Mets. Maybe this year the Panda will shock the world.

Burnett
Definitely Burnett, he is so inconsistent and it is his first playoffs, so we really have to see what he’s got. Good pitching from Burnett and I think we will get far.
