taking too many good pitches
I was the first and last to say it last season and I'll be the first and last to say it this season. The Yankees take too many good pitches from good Pitchers to fall behind in the count and then create unnecessary pressure on themselves which essentially leads to bad at bats. Watch the game tonight. Unless Girardi allows them to be more aggressive, I've made peace with the fact that I will be seeing the Phillies win their second consecutive world series title. I say this same thing every year, taking too many good pitches over the plate that major league hitters who get paid exorbitant salaries to read a pitchers release and rhythm and Girardi's style forces them to be too passive at the plate which translates to bad at bats and key losses. Of course you're going to win a lot of games because you increase your chances of hitting when you have an all star lineup without any bad batters.(its like shooting fish in a barrel---you're bound to hit a target) With that lineup the Yankees should not have any concerns but unfortunately they do. Key hitting situations are shaky (you never know what you're going to get). The yankees have won with good pitching this year. They won a lot of games this year because they have shutdown pitchers and they rode them mercilessly. Mariano and CC pitched like workhorses. Notice Mariano is pitching 2 innings now and CC is pitching full games. Why is that? Do you think Girardi knows that their strongest pitching is their best defense and their only chance to keep their offense in the game. When CC, Burnett, Mariano, Phil Hughes, and Petite are on their A-Game--there's no one better at shutting teams down, but offensively they're unstable at best. They are NOT as great as they should be with the payroll and talent they have. It's disgusting to see the good pitches they take and fall behind in the count to cripple themselves. NO ONE TAKES NOTICE!!!!! I DO

I can't believe someone
actually wrote this crap. You are completely wrong by the way. One thing I notice about the Yankees is usually they do take pitches the reason for this is obviously they want to get the starting pitchers pitch count up. However I have seen them change their approach during games and swing at the first pitch especially if the starter is throwing a lot of first pitch strikes. I don’t know why I’m wasting my time commenting on this post. Nobody is going to read it. Dude open your eyes.

Some batters are patient, some are not.
Cano swings at the first pitch all the time. Melky and Jeter don’t. Batting is not as easy as it looks. I’d like to see you hit a 95mph fastball.
Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

he has over a 1.000 OPS on the first pitch.
the only thing that has taken his average down has been when a runner is on 2nd or 3rd or both.
Cano, and Nick Swisher for that matter, have put up some really weird split stats this season.
Cano is called the bases empty MVP…tho he is pretty much the normal Cano with a man on first.
Never has a player seemed to have such a combination of pressing and bad luck with RISP than Cano this year.
