CC Sabathia will start game 4 on short rest
I realize that most everyone thought thise would happen, but the announcement is now official.
MLB.com has an article here:
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20091031&content_id=7586234&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
It also says that they are contemplating AJ and Andy starting games 5 and 6 on short rest.
Big question is, how are they going to react?
Both pitchers probably want to start those games but we don't know how they'll perform. I think it all depends on the situation. If we're down 3-1 in the series, theres no way we start Gaudin over AJ. If we're up 3-1, we could take our chance with Gaudin vs. Lee. We'll probably be underdogs by a mile, but we COULD still win.
What do you guys think?

WE'RE GONNA WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!
WOOHOO! LET’S GO YANKEES!!!! I THINK I ATE TOO MUCH OF MY BROTHER’S CANDY. ROOM SPINNING.
I would start CC on short rest, but start Gaudin instead of AJ to give him more rest. That is what I think. I may change my mind later though, I do that a lot.

I didn't go trick-or-treating.
My brother did and I’m eating his candy. I’m just dressing up to answer the door. I would never miss this game. Even if it is Halloween.

They'll probably wait
until game 4 to pick who’ll pitch.

Don't you realize
that AJ has good experience pitching on short rest?\
from USA Today RSS Feed:
Burnett has been successful in four career starts on three days’ rest, going 4-0 with a 2.33 ERA. Pettitte is 3-1 with a 2.88 ERA in five postseason starts on short rest. One of those was in Game 5 of the 1996 World Series when he pitched 8 shutout innings against Atlanta. But Pettitte is 37 and was nursing a tired shoulder in September.

I don't think the short rest is a problem at this point in the year.
Its only one more start, they don’t have to worry about a next start after the short rest (CC might…but that’s CC).
Andy is the only one that I’d be worried about, cuz he’s old and that tired shoulder thing (which he’s obviously shown no signs of so far).
AJ can throw non-stop, kinda like CC. He seems to be back in June form, so I have no problem throwing him on 3 days.

If it is 3-1 (god I only hope)
than let Gaudin lose (probably) vs Lee, and win at home with AJ going full, and CC if we need a game 7,
If it’s not 3-1, Its CC, AJ, Andy, AJ

Seriously?
That’s a pretty high standard to hold him to when his offense was getting schooled by a pitcher as good as CC. Any other pitcher for the Phillies and that’s a CC win with the offense behind him. Just look at what we did for Andy and AJ and Andy gave up 3 runs in the 2nd inning.

Thank You Manuel.
For doing us a huge favor by not starting Lee tonight. If the Yankees win game 4, where they will be the overwhelming favorites with CC vs. Blanton, the Phillies will be faced with the task of, even if they win Lee’s game, having to go back to New York and win 2 games with Pedro and Hamels (who is obviously shot right now). That is not going to happen. Meanwhile even if the Yankees lose games 4 and 5, we still go back home knowing we don’t see Lee again. Thanks Charlie!
