An overrated shortstop playing in a media heavy city in the North East? Why, I've only ever heard of one person like that...

Jimmy Rollins is playing Karnak again.

He says Phils in 5 because of "our team."

He obviously hasn't paid much attention to our team, which is fine.

All the Yankee Haters in the world are rallying around the Phillies, from Peter Gammons (who last night picked Carlos Ruiz over Jorge Posada) to my boss (who is from Philadelphia and couldn't name a single player on the current roster but tried to talk trash anyways).

Who's the person you'd be happiest to shut up for 24 hours with a Game 1 victory?

How about every redsox turned Phillie fan and ehat about those pricks from southern california who are still bent out of shape for losing to us. Personally I lovee all the hatee its something that drives this team and its fans. In the words of our “baby boss” Hall Steinbrenner, let’s give the Phillies Hell, and shut up that Jimmy Rollins, show Cliff Lee he only dominates NL lineups and smack Pedro around so hard that who’s your daddy will be stuck in his god forsaken head for as long as he lives. The Yankees will win Game 1 behind a stellar performance by CC but the Aj is going to have to put the phillies in trouble. NOBODY wins in our house, I said it before the ALDS started and ill say it again….LET’S GO YANKEES…..Bring on the “Fightin Phills”. Won’t be doing a lot of fighting after wheere done with you!

Rollins your gonna look STUPID when this is over….

I don't mind Rollins saying that...

hell, he should be saying the Phills in 4, ain’t nobody predicting their team to lose.

Gammons is an idiot. There’s no way Ruiz is better than Jorge. I mean Jeff Mathis outplayed Jorge in the ALCS…is Jeff Mathis better than Jorge Posada? Gammons?

Rollins

The guy was just having some fun. Nothing really meant by it at all. It’s really a non-story.

Mr Megaphone

A female friend of ours, perenially known for striking out with guys, (she’s 48 and single), has recently started dating this loud-mouthed asshole from Philly who gets drunk (I’ve nev er seen him drive, she always does) and talking, literally at the top of his lungs. He makes bets that the Birds (the Eagles) will win, and denies making the bets after they lose. He’s convinced that the Phils will win in 4, and bet me a bottle of Irish whiskey they would. I told him that I only drink single malt scotch, and my preference costs $125 a bottle. He was drunk, so he took the bet. Now he’s trying to welch, before the Series starts.

F*** him, I’m holding him to the bet, and I have witnesses that all back me up., The don’t like the SOB either.

I live in New England

So I’d like to shut up pretty much every Sox fan that surrounds me with not just a Game 1 victory, but a series victory.

Me too!

I live in CT and have to deal with the Red SUX fans as well. Rollins may be having fun with that comment but that certainly doesn’t help his cause or his teams. Predictions usually bite you in your ass, so let’s go get ’em Yankees!!!!! Thanks Rollins for giving us another excuse to heckle you at the game! LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone else see the bit on ESPN about the dilema for Mets fans?

The presenter actually took thjis position: “You don’t have to pick between these two awful choices! Stand by your principles! Watch football and basketball!”

Wow.

If I's known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself. Casey

its cuz most of the staff on ESPN

are fools and have no clue what its like to be a NYer.

Would I foot for the Mets in a WS? No.

If they faced the Yankee’s bitter rival, the Red SOx? Are you kidding me? I’d be chanting Lets go Mets at the top of my lungs.

I don’t like the Mets, I like kicking them when they are down. I don’t like a lot of Mets fans, they remind me of Jets fans that think they are in the SB every year when they put together a win streak (not realizing their history of fail)….

but its the simplest decision of all. Any Mets fan would root for the Yankees. Its the lesser of 2 evils, as I’m sure they HATE the Phillies.

Let them all

Keep talking. Let them all say the Phillies will win the World Series. Maybe a Phillies sweep, Phillies in 5, 6, 7, 10 games, I dont care. This entire season, even when the Yankees were winning, were constantly dogged by the national media. You have the whole lot of ESPN from day 1 of spring training predicting the Yankees to finish in 3rd in the East. When the Yankees had overtaken the scraggly, dirty, sweet caroline, river dancing, redsox, all of the National Media proclaimed it to be merely temporary, " The Red Sox Pitching staff is SO DEEP, how will the Yankees ever overcome a staff of such studs and darlings?"
To say that the Rays were a better team than the Yankees coming into this season was a complete and utter outcry for “I NEED MEDS” I do not care that they were in the World Series last year, I do not care how young and full of talent they were, it was complete craziness to ever pick them over the Yankees and their PROVEN players over the Rays 1 shot joy ride and their plethora of young talent. Going into the season the Rays had Troy mother Effin Percival as their opening day Closer! Do not most, if not all, baseball watchers, reporters, owners, TV media, bloggers, grandmas, ant colonies, glassware, and 24 packs or Busch Lite consider Closers to be 1 of thee most important components of any major league Team? if not thee most important? He went down and they nearly brought Bruce Sutter out of retirement to close for them. Un-Real.

Let the Media continue their love affair with the Phillies. It bothers me none. Let the media believe the Phillies have a better lineup than the Yankees. Let them, bothers me none. Does the media have a short memory? Cliff Lee, yeah he used to pitch in the American League, he holds a 5.02 lifetime ERA against the Yankees. Your #2 Pedro, yeah he is 1-2 in the playoffs against the Yankees with a 4.72 ERA. And that is when he was GOOD! you expect the carcass of Pedro Martinez to walk into this new cathedral and have a shadows of a chance against THIS group of Yankees? get a clue John Kruk, get a M Effin’ clue.

This series will leave NY with the Yankees up 2-0. And I am willing to bet that the National Media and their overwhelming bias against the Yankees will STILL come out and say, the Phillies will pull this out.

Let them Talk. Let them try and bring down the lowly, lucky, nondeserving, 2nd place Yankees. Let them. It bothers me none. Yankee fans know. The Yankees Know, and I whole heatedly believe the National Media knows. Do the Yankees a favor and cast them underdogs, thats fine. It bothers me none. But I am pretty positive it bothers the city of brotherly love alot.

I couldn't agree more!

Everybody acts like its a big deal that the Yankees are “underdogs” and what not. Just let them play the game and well see what happens. As for me, I wanna shut up all the haters at my school.

I know this one Yankee Hater --

I know this guy who hates the Yankees, yet owns nothign but Yankee baseball caps. Literally, he has them in the original navy/white (the New Era, $27 cap) and a bootleg red one that he bought in Chinatown. I’d definitley like to shut HIM up, although I think he’s just having issues accepting who he really is.

Also, I’d like to shut up the Angels fans, boy. I thank the Angels fans who stopped by and offered us congratulations on a hard-fought series, and this dedication is not meant for them.

Rather, it’s meant for that strung-out, perpetually angry, thunderstick sucking hippie that writes for HH, as well as the crybabies that support his rantings. Never in my life have I seen such a blatant case of people whining over irrelevant missed calls. Should we fall in the Series, I will still wake up every day with a smile knowing that we are the reasons you had to put all your little noise-makers away for next year.

Opinions are like... well you know

And apparently they are news cause national sports writers/broadcasters are morons. Honestly I’m just looking forward to a GREAT series. It’s a very charged even while ignoring all the ignorant national media (which I try to do).

May the best team win (And the strike zone be fair)!

Rollins ...

He’s a talker … He’s kinda’ like Swisher with more talent. I don’t think his witless commentary will even register with the Yankees who are probably thinking the same thing, but are too professional to say it…

My Philidelphia Fanatic Room-Mate

He thinks that since he’s been a flyers fan his old life, he’s automatically a phillies fan. And has been his whole life. I didnt see him in a Philly anything until mid season last year.

me personally

Id love for the yankees to beat the breaks off the philles tonight. I bet a buddy of mine $100 that the yanks would win the series. Winning game would go along ways towards shutting him up.
