SWISHER??

Nobody loves Nick Swisher more than I, but let's look at reality...he has now left 18 runners on...

Star-divide

Maybe it's time to sit him down for a game.  It's not like anyone else is going to do worse.  He has provided some clutch hits in the past, well, maybe not that many, but, keep waiting for him to snap out of it, and how long can the team afford to leave so many runners on and not score them...They didn't get the game tonight, and while it's not all swishers fault, you got others on the bench .  Saving Gardner for what?  So he can run behind Guzman?  Girardi has to have a better handle, or feel for the game.

Swisher

He needs to sit out and get his head straight. He has really let the team down with RISP and failure to even move the runners along. This was his moment and he could not takre advantage of it.

sit him

he’s done nothing. bench Swisher for a game and start Gardner. we’d have Gardner’s speed the entire game, and with the bat he couldn’t do any worse. the benching may help Swisher snap out of it too. i’d already considered this game a loss when Swisher stepped in during the 9th with bases loaded and 2 out.

I'm still upset at how Swisher swung at ball 4.

He could have helped the team by taking his bases loaded walk.

Dammit, that lost was so full of bullshit.

Yankees all day.

Actually,

I can’t really blame swisher for the final AB. The final pitch was right in the center of the strike zone according to Gameday. He swung at and hit everything that was reasonably in the strike zone and layed off everything that was going to be called a ball.

I put this on the pitching. The bullpen, as good as it is, can’t let 3 runs slip in right after we take the lead.

What is wrong with Swish during the ALCS? Don’t get me wrong, I like the guy but he has been far from clutch. That last pitch that he popped up probably woulda gave him a walk and tied the game…oh well…maybe Girardi does need to reconsider playin him off the bench or moving him down further in the lineup

I dunno...

that pitch was right down the middle and regardless of what the ump’s strike zone is…that’s a strike.

Swish swung at a good pitch. Everyone from Jeter right down to Melky was just as capable of popping that pitch up too.

Swish is slumping, but it doesn’t excuse the rest of the lineup for scoring 6 runs in only one inning.

Like the # of innings and batters…what happened to the other 8 innnings and other 8 batters?

No

Swisher plays. The guy is in a slump. I know that. But that doesn’t mean he can’t break out of it. Again, in the postseason, you play the players that got you to the postseason. Swisher hit 29 home runs and knocked in 80 runs this year. And he had a .400 OBP and works pitchers a LOT. Have you forgotten all of this? By the logic you guys are using, Teixeira should also be benching up until yesterday, because Teixeira wasn’t hitting either.

You can’t take Swisher out because of a little postseason slump. Other players have broken out of it. Why can’t Swish? Are you going to take out 30 home runs and 80 rbi for Gardner, who has spent most of his career in the minor leagues? Or Hairston, who is nothing more than a utility player?

I wish Swish was hitting better and I really hope he breaks out. But he can’t be, and will not be taken out of this lineup.

And last night, the blame of the game doesn’t go to Swisher. It goes to Phil Hughes, who throws a 1-2 fastball right down the middle to a player who swings at EVERYTHING! Bounce a curve and the inning is over. Throw a slider outside, and the inning is over. Vlad swings at EVERYTHING! He’s worse than Cano! And you throw it right down the middle? Come on Phil.

Swish out>>> Gardner in, Here's why

Swish is in a terrible slump and bats even more poorly in Yankee stadium. His fielding is adequate (he doesn’t hustle out the dying quails just over first). Gardner is how the Yanks fight fire with fire…speed in the lineup which make the fielder’s move and then we “hit ‘em where they ain’t”.

Swisher also swung for all the marbles in that final at bat, trying to hit a homer (thus dropping the elbow and popping out) instead of smoothly hitting it (or trying to) the opposite way, knocking in at least one to tie it up.

he does get batting advice from his girlfriend.

Gardner should play little more..

after coming back from his injury he got lot of play time and always found a way to get on base bunting and stealing bases. While Swisher is good patient hitter, and works up the count.. He is been in a slump through out the postseason and to be honest its pissing me off.. Arod, Jeter, Posada, Melky and Teixera are the only ones doing all the work and thank god Damon broke out of his slump… Hinske is another good option as pinch hitter he has a good swing and has shown that he can crack a few past the wall.

I'm not against sitting Swisher...

But let’s remember who’d be replacing him. Brett Gardner. Not Willie Mays. Brett Gardner. Again I’m not against…if Swisher isn’t going to hit we might as well improve the defense but let’s not pretend it’s the difference between winning and losing.
