Waste of a fanpost
You don’t even explain why. Poor effort.
I can’t say I agree. I mean who are you gonna put there, Gardner? I don’t know. Prefer having Gard as a PR option. Swish gets walks, like he almost did tonight after being down 0-2 in the 9th. It was a great at bat and he simply popped it up.

lol
“like he almost did tonight”
ALMOST?? Kidding me??
Almost does not win rings. Almost, wow.
“it was a great at bat”
Most great at bats do end with a pop up.. Your right.. Your a genius.. He almost walked. It was a great at bat. Good response. I will be looking for your responses more and more now I read this wisdom.

Before tonight
it should have been get Tex out of the lineup.
The guy battled in his final AB.
He’s due. Got here with Swish, will lose with Swish and win with Swish.
GIRARDI WOULD BE A MORON…to sit him.
You wanna start Gardner, make a case vs. Melky. That would be lost too, cuz Melk has came through lately
Swish will be a hero before its over.
You will feel EVEN MORE dumb, when it happens.

lol
He did battle. I think that is in the box score actually.. I was actually just on ESPN.com and the headline read “Swishers battle not enought, Halos win”

you'd rather Gardner bunt single?

might
When did I ever say anything about might?
Another one of your great quotes
“it should have been get Tex out of the lineup.”
Are you stupid? Do you see what he does at first? You should just stop with your posts

well who the hell do you want?
Get Swisher out of the lineup is the only thing you say. What the hell does that do? You’re obviously not intellegent enough to figure out a solution, so what “might” you come up with?
Do you sugest just an open hole in swisher’s spot? The only seeming suggestion by everyone in the bench Swisher bandwagon, which I’d think you’re in, is to replace him with Gardner.
So….Gardner “might” do something.
You’re the one with the ignorant one sentence fan-post. Silly of me to think you actually had any sort of solution to “get Swisher out of the lineup”.
Fool.

A Big Fat co-sign on that.
Swisher has been totally useless so far. Gardner couldn’t be any worse at this juncture.

In game 3 Swisher failed twice with runners on the corners and less that 2 out.
He’s shown nothing in this series.

The reason a fanpost is supposed to be 75 words
is to stop you from posting one sentence. The idea is that you might actually put some thought into it before posting something reactionary.
BUT, I think Gardner starting a game is long overdue.

Yeah, let's replace a guy who can't hit...
…with another guy who can’t hit, AND has no power potential.
Brilliant.

Before this series
we both would have agreed that Jeff Mathis couldn’t hit either. The playoffs are a time for riding the hot hand as far as you can, and so far, that has NOT been Swish.
I don’t think there is anything criminal about putting him in the 9 hole in a game Molina is not in against a pitcher he matches up well against and having Swish be available for pinch hitting duties later in the game.

agreed
you could argue that he’s due, and he’ll come through. question is WHEN will he come through? we don’t need him to come through EVENTUALLY, we need him to come through NOW. sure the pop-up with the bases loaded tonight was bad luck, but this entire series he hasn’t done anything with runners in scoring position. he’s struggling at the plate and right now is just short of a guaranteed out, he came up to bat and i thought “well f*ck that’s game over” sure enough it was. at this point Gardner cannot possibly do any worse, and we’d have his speed for the entire game.
Girardi pull Swisher from the lineup.

Swish hasn't hit the ball with any authority lately
I think there is a strong case to start Gardner over him. Everyone in the world knew that a Fuentes meatball was coming on the 3-2 pitch yet Swish pops it up.

I love Swish.
But the guy needs to be benched on Saturday.

You guys better all hope Gardner does something if he starts....
cuz this is like starting Molina for Jorge….another dumb move.

Going with Bumnett on the road was a very bad idea!

The Yankees didn't sign him to a mega contract
so he can only pitch at home.

if Burnett can only pitch well at home
then they should cut his contract, because he has no business making 80 million dollars if he can’t pitch away from Yankee Stadium.

REALLY!?!?
He gave up 6 runs against the ANGELS. although not a great performance, it is not awful for the lineup going against. And lets be honest, I dont think there is a single player in baseball who deserves all the money they make. Because in an ignorant fans eyes like most people on this thing are, unless you are batting 1.000 with runners in score position, have 100 homeruns and 100 rbis and have never made an error, You Suck

I never said Burnett couldn't pitch well on the road
I was responding to Static Shock’s comment. He said that going with A.J. on the road was a bad idea. I was trying to say that he has to pitch well on the road, and that if he is incapable of pitching well on the road, then he shouldn’t be here. I know he is capable of pitching well on the road. He’s done it before.
Like Scooby Snacks said, the Yankees didn’t sign him to his contract to only pitch at Yankee Stadium. I wasn’t against starting him on the road. He has to pitch on the road. It can’t be avoided.

Gardner brings more speed, equal hitting, more speed, smarter baserunning, more speed and played well during the season. Yeah, so did swisher. Yeah, if you could pick anyone gardner wouldnt be your number one choice. but it is what we have. At absolute worst, gardner goes in and doesnt hit and we are no worse off.
by PolishMiracle on Oct 24, 2009 2:18 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Gardner isn't the threat that Swisher is.
Swish is a better hitter. Simple as that. He’s struggling, but he can turn it around. Swisher has more power, a higher OBP, more RBI. Swisher is a MUCH better hitter than Gardner. Gardner brings better speed and defense.
This decision depends on how much faith Girardi has that Swisher can turn it around. I for one have faith that he can, and if he does, then I’ll take Swisher in the starting lineup any day.
