Gardner or Swisher?
Swisher constantly looks lost in the outfield and is batting .125 with 1 rbi. Anybody think they should put Melky in right and give Gardner a few starts in Center? Gardner will obviously be a base running threat and I can't see him doing any worse than hitting .125. Batting Gardner 9th would be a good way to turnover the lineup to get Jeter and the big boys more at bats instead of having Swisher strike out every other at bat.

Definitely Gardner,
I can’t believe he hasn’t gotten any starts yet.

If Swisher doesn't hit early tonight, Girardi needs to get Gardner in early.
It’s night and day in terms of outfield defense with Gardner. He puts Melky’s good arm in a corner outfield position and gives the other outfielders less ground to worry about.

Agreed
It’s about time. I would have thought, with this being the Angels, that G-Man would have started the entire series…
Gardner for sure,
Swish’s ISO has gone from .249 in the regular season to .042. His wOBA went from .375 to .210 (!). Granted this is a miniscule sample size, and Swish has been killed by a BABIP that went from .277 to .200, but simply by subbing Gardner’s defense in for Swish’s will increase the Yankees chance of a win. Give Swisher a week off and hopefully he’ll be ready for the WS.
Swisher
He has sucked badly, but Gardner who would be in for his speed has been caught twice in two attempts. Swisher has power and patience at the plate.

Prob not gonna happen tonight with Molina starting.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
Swisher
he’s looked terrible in the postseason. But in the postseason, you start the players that got you there. What if A-Rod wasn’t hitting? Does that mean you would consider starting Jerry Hairston at third base? Or if Jeter wasn’t hitting, you would start Hairston at short? No, you wouldn’t.
I love Gardner, and I know that Swish hasn’t been hitting. But that doesn’t mean he can’t turn it around. In the playoffs, you start the players that got you there. Swisher is a better player than Gardner offensively, and I think that the great season Swish has earned him every start in the postseason.
I do hope he starts hitting though. We could use it.

Swish has meant a lot to this team, both on and off the field this year. I say keep playing him. Plus, it’s nice to have some speed or a defensive replacement on the bench in case we need it.

Gardner
Speed puts so much more pressure on the defense

Which makes it even better if you can use him

Swisher.
Gardner belongs on the bench.
One game, and all of a sudden Damon and Melky belong in their spots. Swish deserves that too.
He’ll be the hero tonight too. Boom.

After tonight...
Swish needs to be benched. He looked like a deer in the headlights at the plate and was quickly down 0-2 on some WEAK hacks…
yet.....
battle back to 3-2….
Great AB by Swish.
Get em game 6.
Swish aint to blame for this one.

Stir things up ...
Sit Swisher and start Gardner. Swish isn’t hitting a lick … Gardner is punch and judy, but he brings speed and excitement. I don’t blame Swish, but he’s slumping badly and we could use alittle jumpstart.
Afterthought: I think someone should introduce Robertson to Girardi …
