and my parents were born and raised in South Bend.
i also like the Yankees/Giants/Knicks because i grew up 45 minutes away from the city in Connecticut.
thanks for playing though.
i’d say something about your Cowboys/Yankees/UNC fanship, but the Cowboys can’t be considered frontrunning because they haven’t won a playoff game in 13 years.
by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Oct 19, 2009 8:05 PM EDT up reply actions
Good point
This is why I choose not to comment on team people like. Sometimes, it’s not fornt running. There are stories behind the the reasons we like certain teams.
Which was my point
I’ve always rooted for my teams and taken crap for it because of geography. That was exactly my point.

aceves didnt do well last time he pitched in post, why put him up again when robertson is doing perfectly well?
Did anyone really think we would sweep?
I figured they would get at least one. Look at how hard it was for them to just get one win?
All is well. Wrap it up later. No worries.

by tarheel_highlander on Oct 19, 2009 8:37 PM EDT reply actions
we had the chance, at least...
putting ace in was a bad call.
It's one thing being beaten.
It’s another thing when the manager puts the team in a situation where the odds are stacked against them.
Py pulling Marte (gasp!) in favor of Coke, we removed a lefty who had been pitching well for ANOTHER lefty (!) who didn’t.
By pulling Robertson in favor of Aceves, we removed a lockdown-style pitcher and replaced him with a non-lockdown pitcher (meaning more baserunners and more potential runs scored) in a game where THE GAME IS OVER if the other team scores ANY runs.
By playing musical pitchers we ran out of lockdown-style relievers at least two innings earlier than we could have.
I’m sorry, Girardi has done many things right this season but in this game, Joe’s decisions with the pitching were just wrong, and it probably cost us the game… a playoff game, where every win is a difficult win. We could have won this game and quite possibly would have with better decisions by the manager.
Nah. Only Hughes pitched a full inning.
Chamberlain 0.1 2 1 1 0 0 0 13.50
Marte, D 0.1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.00
Coke 0.1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0.00
Hughes, P 1.2 1 0 0 0 1 0 0.00
Rivera, Ma 1.0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0.00
Robertson, D 0.2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.00
Aceves, A (L, 0-1) 0.0 2 1 1 0 0 0 13.50
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
