October Baseball Open Thread
At most, there is less than a month of baseball to be played, and the winter is always long. So, enjoy the games while you can.
The Rockies and Phillies have been pushed back to tomorrow, but the Dodgers and Cards are on
(Sorry, I went out for the afternoon and didn't think to put this up sooner).

Cardinals are about to get swept..
and snow…..SNOW, postpones a game in October. Even worse, the game time temp.‘s for taht Rockies game were going to be in the upper 20’s.
Why they would reschedule it for Sunday at 8…I have no idea.
What the f$%k is the internet?
I think retractable roofs should be a required part of every new stadium. I’m still pissed with the Yanks for not constructing one.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
Yankee Stadium with a retractable roof?
Are you nuts? I still miss the old stadium as it is, now the Yankees playing in a dome? Yech. I do think the Giants and Jets made a huge mistake in not having a retractable dome though.
what?!?

You ever drive into the city, pay 8 bucks to cross the GWB and another 19 to park only to have the game rained out? You don’t get those 27 bucks back.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
If the 27 dollars is affecting you that much maybe...
you should attend other sporting events instead, Giants, Jets, Isles, Rangers Knicks perhaps.

Poor baby
Your inconvenience is worth more than almost a century of tradition? Boo Hoo. There is no crying in baseball.

Why is a rain delay a valuable tradition?
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
No
But 2 or 3 a season isn’t worth the tens of millions of dollars for a friggin giant retractable roof, plus it would take all the class of the beautiful stadium and throw an ass hat on top of it.

Kill Pavano plz.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
Eh, tried a new pic, didn't like it.
Still kill Pavano plz.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
Cards don't even look alive rite now
only bright side was Smoltz striking out 5 in a row…hmm maybe they shoulda started old greybread? I mean look at what that senior citizen did for the vikings…
if the cards get swept itll be sooo dissapointing.....
The double headed monster at the top of the rotation has been tamed……and pujols has been as effective as melky cabrera at this point…..tsk tsk tsk…..

Sorry
No matter what I am a Torre guy that roots for him with the exception of any game he manages against the Yankees. Called loyalty.

I Wanted Dodgers to win but never expected Cards to go down w/o a fight
Their offense is equivalent of the Sox offense rite now… They looks dead and Pujols looks no where near as the automatic hitter as everyone makes him out to be…
I dont think I could stand the sight of Mattingly winning a title in Dodger blue
I know everybody loves Girardi, but I think a lot of my hate of Girardi unfairly stems from the fact he got the job and Mattingly didnt. I hate to think we will never see Mattingly achieve a championship while wearing the pinstripes. Maybe we will get lucky and Girardi will yell at Hank and get himself fired like in Florida.
+1
I know. I keep wondering what Torre could have done with, say, getting CC, Tex and AJ in 2006/07. Sigh, I like Girardi and all, but I miss (as the Captain would put it) Mr. Torre.

I know
That thought scares me too. A few years back everyone kept calling us the new Murderers’ Row and the Big Red Machine and we just looked lost in the playoffs. But we’ve managed runs off good pitchers all year.

all the sports writers were predicting a Yanks-Cards WS too.
i hope they got the Yanks part right.

I'm surprised the Dodgers swept.
I wouldn’t say they were the underdogs there tho….
I don’t see them getting past the Rockies or Phillies tho.

I Am So Happy The Cards Were Swept
Ever since 2004, I root against the Cards. The way they rolled over during that WS makes me sick. The Sox were begging them to win with all the errors .
Until it says that the series is over....

I want this game to be the game
That the Pavano family is not allowed to ever bring up in the house when daddy is home.

One of my favorite posts
I could just see the future Mrs Pavano telling the kids to keep quiet about the Yankees.
It's the least he owes us
Don’t you think?

I cant believe the cards got swept...
Not one of those games was close to exciting if for a cards fan… they didn’t seem motivated…..
I hope we Destroy pavano today, I I hope the Sox get swept away today in front of their home crowd.
