Manny is not going to be a Yankee!
Just thought I'd put it out there that Manny Ramirez, barring a spectacular trade with the club he signs, will not be coming to the NYY. We have already signed 3 type A free agents (CC, AJ, and Texiera), and have achieved the limit for type A free agents in an offseason (a type A is a player in the top 20% of MLB players for the past 2 years, something that all of our aquisitions are). Manny is also a type A free agent (suprise, suprise), so unless he signs with the Dodgers, who trade him to us (something that probably will not happen), we will not acquire Manny Ramirez.

Under the new CBA
I believe a team can sign as many A+B free agents as it losses. Otherwise, the Yankees wouldn’t be able to consider resigning Andy Pettitte (another Type A).
The Yanks lost Moose, Pettitte, Abreu, and Pudge. So Pettitte would be the Yanks final big ticket addition of the off-season if he chooses to be.

you're right
but we’ve only lost 3 type A free agents (Abreu, Pettite, Moose)-and we’ve signed 3. A team can sign as many type A+B free agents as it loses, but we’ve lost only 3 type A FA, and have signed 3 FA (2 officially). So we’ve reached the limit.
But if you're right
how could the Yanks re-sign Pettitte, who is a Type A?

Giambi is a type A
and you can re-sign your own type As, they dont count.
