Even teammates called him 'A-Fraud'
Joe Torre says in a new book, set to be released February 3. That's just one nugget that we'll learn about from Torre's days as manager for 12 seasons.
Another:
The Post, which purchased an advance copy in a New York bookstore last week, reported that Rodriguez "developed a 'Single White Female'-like obsession with Jeter and asked for a personal clubhouse assistant to run errands for him."
Likely to be a hot read when it's released.

Out of character for Joe
I guess he really wants this book to sell. I never pictured him as a guy that liked pointing fingers, but it seems he critiziced the yankees a lot in this book. As for A-rod, this is pretty much old news. It was a well known fact that jeter and a-rod had something going on and that there was some kind of tension with a-rod in the locker room. I hope nothing really disturbing comes out of this book.
Who knows
what Joe has been hiding behind his seemingly expresionless face
"Hey Derek do you actually drive the Edge?","I don't drive that piece of crap!"
The real Torre?
So its come down to Joe taking a shot at ARod by quoting others in the clubhouse. Is he that insecure that he sold out for money? How will his Dodger players react to a manager who does this sort of thing?
Sorry Joe, after all the tears and hugs and family BS…we now learn you cannot be trusted…so long.
Shame, would have been nice to see him at the Grand Opening. Now ? I don’t think so.

I want to read the book
before passing judgement.
Context is important. Both “Why was he saying that about Arod?” and “How much of the book is negative?”

SI:
I think it’s important to understand context here. The book is not a first-person book by Joe Torre, it’s a third-person narrative based on 12 years of knowing the Yankees and it’s about the changes in the game in that period. Seems to me the New York Post assigned this third-person book entirely to Joe Torre and that’s not the case. In fact, if people saw that Post story they probably noticed there are no quotes from Joe Torre in it. Joe Torre does not rip anybody in the book. The book really needs to be read in context.
The interviews with Torre were done specifically for the book but this is the result of hundreds of interviews with not only Torre but players, front office executives, executives of other teams, players on other teams.

Read
that too jscape. It’s a 477 page book. The comments he makes or that are referred to by the press cannot be more than a 10-15 page peice. Maybe less.
Torre Book
Travis,
This looks like a very interesting book. I’m going to request it from the library as soon as it is published.

It seems like Torre..
..isn’t the source of all the really heavy stuff… which makes me glad to hear..
What worries me is more the all A-Rod stuff.. how is this going to affect him, head-case that he is already? It seems shocking to me that A-Rod is seemingly so hated- the guy seems is doufus no doubt, but he doesn’t seem to be a particularly bad guy… insecure maybe.
I just hope that he can shut it all out and put up his usual “odd numbered year” stats… not so much for A-Rod himself, as for the Yankees in general. They don’t need A-Rod slumping on top of all this other junk.
