Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Edwar Ramirez...

... king of the bizarro stats.

Star-divide

Against the Angels in 2008:

59.40 ERA, 7.06 WHIP (no, these are not typos)

Against the rest of Major League Baseball:

3.16 ERA, 1.05 WHIP

Hot diggity damn, I hate the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of the United States of America of North America of the Western and Northern Hemispheres of the Earth of the Solar System of the Milky Way of the Universe.

i still call them 'Anaheim'

i refuse to call them ‘LA’, and they’re lucky i’m still not using ‘California’. just pick a name and stick with it.

Edwar used to be in the Angels system. that might have something to do with it.

I think so too

They released him twice. For a guy who relies on finesse and deception, getting amped up probably isn’t the best thing.

Reliable is a dumb thing to say

This is especially true when what you mean is repeatably, flawlwssly, perfect.

Yankee fans say it because watching Mo for his unbelievably great career has lead them to wrongly believe any pitcher can be reliable.

Leave Mariano Rivera aside and show me a reliable pitcher. Especially a middle reliever.

Face it the best pitchers start. Great pitchers with limitations close. People who cannot close setup. People who cannot close or setup or start do what Edwar does.

Get off his back.

Sorry to pounce on you, but this has been bugging me for a while and I have to let it out.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

How is Edwar not reliable?

He’s appeared in 52 games this year, and hasn’t allowed a run in 42. He averages 10 K/9 innings and has a reasonable WHIP (1.23).
