PREGAME NOTES:
Yanks are 7-1 against the Mariners this season.
Johnny Damon has not been caught stealing since June 20 and 15 straight over that span. His 28 SB on the season are the most he's had since 2003 when he swiped 30 with the Red Sox.
Mike Mussina is a lifetime 19-5, 3.77 ERA, 1.20 WHIP in 29 games (28 starts) against the Mariners. He is 2-0, 4.09 ERA, 1.36 WHIP in 2 starts against them in 2008.
Carlos Silva was a late scratch because of a bad back, so Ryan Feierabend gets the call to replace him. He has never faced the Yanks or any of their hitters.
Mariners' hitters vs. Moose can be viewed here.

Losing this series
to a team 30 games under .500 is simply pathetic. The Yanks now sit behind the Bluejays in the standings. You can blame injuries for a lot of things this year but even with them, the line-up should have been more productive. This team plays with a permanent slouch most days. They can’t even muster the attitude of a plucky underdog. They need to get someone on the team that can light a fire on the field and/or in the dugout. How embarrassing.
yeah
i thought girardi would be that guy to ‘light a fire’ cause they seemed to be missing that in recent years. losing a series to the pitiful mariners (when friggin sidney ponson gets the only win and they dont even throw their best pitcher) is embarrassing. i agree about the ‘permanent slouch’.
