Kennedy 3.0?

The New York Daily News is reporting that Ian Kennedy may be recalled from SWB. However, Peter Abraham is reporting that the Yankees have already beckoned Chris Britton to Texas.

Abraham is right in saying the Yankees tend to break bad news in small doses. But there's no question Joba is done for at least one start.

I know IPK has been terribly weak in his previous '08 incarnations, but if Joba is down for several weeks, it presents the perfect opportunity for IPK to get himself out of Girardi's doghouse and into the mix of starters. I'm hoping they give him a chance--certainly over Glass Carl.

During his latest stint in Scranton, Kennedy has gone 4-2 with a 2.14 ERA, including a 3-0 mark and 1.33 ERA in his last four starts. He deserves another shot.

they could burn Britton

in one game if they chose to, ala last Thursday (53 pitches), and demote him again to make room for Kennedy on Saturday.

IPK does deserve the shot

And we need him to take advatage of it.

Poor Britton. I hope he does well. I don’t think he’s ever going to be a Yankee on a regular basis. We are starting to get loaded with bullpen arms. I wonder what we could get for him.

It looks like we’ll see Hughes before Carl. The window for Ian to make the rotation is short. The window for us to go on a tear and get into the playoff mix is short too.

Let’s go boys, now is the time.

What is the deal

with Britton? I’ve never really heard anything definitive as to why he can’t seem to stick. He’s big (perhaps too big), throws hard, has control. I loved him in Baltimore, and saw him pitch on a number of occasions. If not a star, I felt he would project out to a valuable middle to late inning guy—if not start.

With the Yankees, he appears to always be the odd man out. Why?

Meanwhile

Jeff Karstens is 4 outs away from a perfect game this afternoon.

Jinxed him

he gave up a hit with two outs in the eighth.

It just goes to show you how bad the NL really is

Karstens is on the same level as Rasner. You might be able to catch lightning in a bottle for several starts but he was never going to be a reliable starter for the Yanks.
