Hughes headed to Scranton
Tyler Kepner is reporting that Phil Hughes is making his return to Scranton after drawing rave reviews during his rehab outing for the Class-A Charleston Riverdogs Saturday night.
Hughes is expected to make his next start for Scranton within the next few days and Kepner predicts we may see the Franchise back in the Bronx within the next couple of weeks - spelling the end of Sidney Ponson.
With Ian Kennedy set to take over for the ineffective Darrell Rasner, it appears that the second and third members of the Trinity may have a huge impact on the Yankees' playoff hopes after all.
Kepner adds that Shelley Duncan will also return to Scranton after rehabbing a separated shoulder he suffered on a driving catch in the outfield several weeks back.

finally
hughes is one of my favorites so it’s great to see him getting close. he’s starting thursday, according to Chad Jennings. he’s supposed to throw 65-70 pitches. he was ‘only’ at 93-95 in Charleston, not 101, but as looked as good as he ever has, according to pitching coordinator Nardi Contreras.
