I need HELP from die-hard YANKS FANS
Okay, I do have a Yankees hat and am pleased when they win, BUT I am honestly a novice baseball fan who is married to a BORN AND BREAD YANKEES FAN.
My husband grew up in Freehold, NJ and went to school in Hoboken and he loves nothing more than being at a home Yankees game. His birthday is at the end of September and I would LOVE to surprise him with two tickets (for me and him) to a game at the beloved stadium before it is torn down. Sooo.... keeping these things in mind:
- Weekend games are best because we live in NC
- I don't really want to pay more than $500 for 2 tickets
My questions are...
- Are decently priced tickets still available?
- What game would be a good one to go to? Against who?
- In my price range, where do I want to sit?
- Will there be anything spectacular about the very last game at the old stadium? I have seen an offer for $400 for 2 bleacher seats (not thrilled that we couldn't drink a beer...) for the LAST game (assuming they don't make it to the playoffs). Is that a fair price or not?
- Is there a secret, secure, guaranteed online site where I want to buy my tickets? I've looked at Stubhub...
- Is there anything special we'd want to do at the stadium before a game starts?
ANY advice would be much appreciated, as I'm just a southern girl with big hopes of making this birthday KILLER!! Thanks, y'all!

yankee stadium
visit monument park before game, i think you have to be there at least one hour before gametime, and i suggest just walking around the stadium before the game starts and just see the stadium from all different views. The best deal price wise is probaly 9/15 vs chicago, is your price range $500 per seat or total?, Stubhub’s prices are fair as long as you find the best seat location for your price range. Let me know what game your looking for and I can probaly help, I sell tickets for a living and live in edgewater, which is right next to hoboken. Goodluck!

i dont know about tix
check out stubhub for availability and prices.
only two weekens remaining, so go for whatever you can get.
my favorite seats are in the front of the upper deck behind home plate.
$400 for 2 bleacher tix is a helluva lot. those tix normally cost (iirc) $12.
visit Monument Park, maybe walk around the Stadium to get the different perspectives.

help for the lady
Are decently priced tickets still available?
You can trust stub hub and they guarantee their tickets, so if you decide they are decently priced…go for it…but more on that later.
What game would be a good one to go to? Against who?
sept 12th-14th against Tampa Bay would be a great series because TB is in first place, if the yanks are coming back that series could be the key.
sept 19-21 against Baltimore would be the cheaper of the series price wise normally, but that is the last series at the stadium which will drive the ticket prices way up especially for the very last game, and they are a bit more hated than TB…so that’s a factor.
In my price range, where do I want to sit?
For the last game…anywhere will do, the ticket stub will be a priceless souvenier. For other games as close to the field as possible, as close to home plate as possible. Stub Hub can tell you what’s avalaible.
Will there be anything spectacular about the very last game at the old stadium? I have seen an offer for $400 for 2 bleacher seats (not thrilled that we couldn’t drink a beer…) for the LAST game (assuming they don’t make it to the playoffs). Is that a fair price or not?
I woldn’t pay that for the bleachers, unless your guy has a fondness for sitting with the bleacher creatures, but that seems like a steep price. Stub Hub should have something more decent than that. The last game…is a bit of an exception, but I suspect there’s something better than that on there. The last game will be ceratinly special (as I mention about the ticket stub being very valuable) and if I were wealthy enough to afford 500 for 2 tickets to the last game (regular season…or hopefully post season) I’d feel fortunate to be there. But post seasons tickets are probably impossible to get…and although we’re hopeful…
Is there a secret, secure, guaranteed online site where I want to buy my tickets? I’ve looked at Stubhub…
Stub Hub is probably the best option, the sooner you buy the better, prices will go up the longer you wait on games that are being counted down til the stadium closes. If you run the risk of truying to get something cheaper by waiting till the last minute, you may get stuck with nothing.
Is there anything special we’d want to do at the stadium before a game starts?
Monument park like the rest mentioned, but I recomend getting to the stadium way early, in fact the earlier the better. You can grab something to eat at one of the bar and grill spots near the staduim before hand, check out the shirt and hats shops before hand behind right field outside the stadium. Getting in line to get in at the gates early also helps so you’re fairly toward the fonrt of the line for manuament park. You’ll want to get in line for that immediately as soon as you get into the gate…thus getting in the line for the gate is paramount. You’ll want the gate behind home plate and monument park is in left field, you’ll see signs inside the stadium when you enter that will direct you towards the line for monument park.
You used to be able to get near the gate where the players enter from their parking lot, but they’ve continued to move the barricades around because of the new stadium, so that really isn’t something I’d impress on you to try to do.
IF your guy has been to yankee stadium a hundred times and to monument park a 100 times a second option for as soon as the game starts is to grab a spot on the Left field wall to try to snag batting practice balls along the fence, you can also yell at the loser oriole outfielders and pitchers but if you’re really nice to them they might toss you a ball. Beware though if this is your goal as soon as you enter, they don;t always take batting practice toward the end of series. Keep that in mind. But they very well may for the last game.
hopefully that helps…chicks rock that do this kind of work for their men…good luck

screw ups
sorry a few typos I must correct…..“monument park” is spelled as such…It sucks when you inadventently sound like an idiot red saux fan…they suck
Batting practice will be ongoing as soon as the “gates open” NOT “game starts”

Monument Park
I live in Virginia, and simply didn’t have the funds to ferry 5 people to the game. I took my oldest daughter (who is 12) to tour Yankee Stadium this past June. It was a great behind-the-scenes excursion. We sat in the dugout, moved through the clubhouse—saw Girardi’s office, etc., the YES booth, press box and lots of other interesting things. Highly recommend.
