…with another two-run homer to start off the Toronto/Boston game. Here’s for hoping that Burnett has another game like he did against us.
Saw that
Maybe the Yanks will help their own cause by winning some games, too. Start with today and a sweep of Boston would be nice as well.
Even if the Yanks don’t make it to the postseason, the least they could do is scare the hell out of the Red Sox and make them sweat.
Well, so much for that
Just keep ‘em there. I don’t get why the Yanks have had so many problems with the O’s the last couple of years.
Here's the bottom line.
A playoff team gets these two runs home. A non-playoff team pops out and strikes out.
Possible, but unlikely
Hey, I didn’t think there was any chance Pavano would make a start for this team so I guess anything is possible.
if they were to get on a hot streak and be in better contention say .5-1.5 games out, would they be working Joba back to being a starter?
I think they are starting that process now
I think the bullpen outings are just a way to build his arm back up again. Not to make him a reliever.
i'm just gonna say it, cause it worked last time
A playoff team gets these two runs home. A non-playoff team pops out and strikes out.
I was concerned about the quick inning after Rasner's long 2nd
so at least they extended it a little to get him some rest
I wrote this on August 4th
Obviously, Girardi didn’t take my advice. He likes the righty-lefty-righty-lefty thing way too much so nothing else matters.
Update
Tampa is down 1, Boston is tied with possible trouble
Kind of a bad situation
Yankees need the Orioles to beat the White Sox and they’re not helping by destroying their bullpen every game
Hey 'conda

My jaw has hit the floor in this inning
Jeter and Nady. Two errors. One run.
Pathetic.
sloppy
Any time you think this team is playoff caliber, something like this comes along to remind you that they’re not.

You have to be fucking me.
Literally, have to be.
Sarfate should be coming out soon
but they’re going to have to keep the O’s off the board until they put more runs on the board
Homer?
Gameday is giving me trouble today.

Ehhh...what's the difference?
So what if Farnsworth wasn’t even involved in that deal. And hey, a lefty reliever is the same as an overpaid third baseman.
I know there's a little consistency with the lineup
but Girardi should really think about switching the #5 and 6 hitters
I think there’d be a little more pressure on the pitcher w/ Nady hitting behind Abreu and Arod compared to Giambi, so then Arod would most likely see slightly better pitches
I can't disagree
but Girardi has this thing about alternating his righties and lefties. It’s almost like the “OMG, a lefty pitcher!” philosophy he had before Matsui came back.
I could see that against a team that has the ability to bring in a lefty, righty, lefty or vice versa late in a ball game, but there aren’t really too many teams that have a dominant pen where that would even be feasible. On the other hand it’s not a bad thing to have the ability to make your lineup like that so I guess it can go both ways
i would
normally agree with the alternating R and L… but I am also a fan of rewarding the hot hitter… Nady should probably hit 5…
Funny Girardi and his fickleness with lineups.. but he is sticking with Giambi at 5 despite the lack of results..

Matsui hit behind A-Rod until his knee gave way
I had no problem with that. Matsui was hitting like .330+ with RISP and he’s a lefty. Giambi has hit .200 with RISP and Nady has hit something like .330+.
Seems like the logical move but Girardi doesn’t always use common sense.
I know Mo had to clean up...
but THAT was the Marte the Yanks thought they were getting. Undoubtedly his best showing in pinstripes (well, road grays…)

yea that was
wasn’t bad against the Sox initially either when he got Ortiz with his quick slide step pitch
Robby...
is looking like he doesn’t want to visit his bud melky anytime soon…
