Yanks have now scored 2 runs or less a unbelievable 40 times this season.  Raise your hand if you expected that to happen before the season began.

Johnny Damon is just 1-for-21 over hsi last 5 games.  The Yanks are just 4-6 when he starts in CF.

David Purcey has never faced the Yanks or any of their hitters for the exception of Pudge Rodriguez (1-for-3 with a double).

Andy Pettitte is a lifetime 16-10, 4.16 ERA, 1.36 WHIP in 34 games (35 starts) against the Jays.  He is 7-4, 3.87 ERA, 1.41 WHIP in 13 starts on the road this season.

Oh, that Girardi is one smarty pants

It only took him 4 months to realize that his lefties have hit lefties in the past well enough to start against scrub left-handed pitchers.

I call that progress.

LETS GO YANKEES

this season aint over til its over..

Yeah, Damon in CF again!

He’s 1 for his last 21 and couldn’t catch a ball if you threw it to him underhanded from 20 feet, but he’s out there, leading off and playing CF. Genius Joe strikes again. What’s the over-under on the number of balls he drops today? Or the average number of bounces on his throws to second?

That's a bit overboard

Yeah, okay, he had a rough night. But he had been fine this season up until last night.

He’s a better defender than Bobby Abreu – that’s for sure.

Plus

he scored the Yanks only run last night. Doubt Burnett would have walked Gardner.

The good will outweigh the bad over the long haul, especially if Matsui starts hitting.

"Well, that kind of puts a damper on even a Yankees win."

I'm not going to bludgeon Damon for his rough night

He’s one of a handful that have been real gamers all season. And he is having a great year at the plate.

Perhaps if the team hadn’t mailed so many games in the season, Yankee fans would be able to shrug off last night’s game without a hitch.

Better defender than Bobby Abreu

All you’re saying is that he’s not the worst outfielder in the league.

Angels v. Rays

unlikely but, is it possible they would mail their series against the Rays to give them a little extra cushion. As good as a season as they have had, if they make the playoffs I just don’t see them going far

by emille2 on Aug 20, 2008 7:48 PM EDT   0 recs

as a team, I would definitely rather play the Rays in the postseason then the yanks or sox

Hate to say it...

…but if I were another team, I’d want to play the Yankees rather than the Red Sox or the Rays.

I just got home...

…and thought the sky was falling when I saw the box. How’s it going, guys?

by dzawaki on Aug 20, 2008 8:18 PM EDT   0 recs

Indeed

He’s hit the ball hard three times tonight.

BTW....

For those who rip Cashman for not making the Santana trade – Clay Buchholz, the kid Theo refused to part with in any proposed Santana deal, will be 2-9, 6.75 ERA on the season after getting rocked again tonight by the O’s.

Cashman wasn’t the only one who didn’t want to give up one of his prized young pitchers.

Just benched Halladay on my fantasy team b/c he’s gonna have a bad day tomorrow
