Yanks have been held to 3 runs or less in six of the nine meetings between these teams in 2008.
Derek Jeter is 12-for-19 (.631) over his last four games.
Robinson Cano is 6-for-15 (.400) since his pal Melky Cabrera was sent down to Scranton.
Darrell Rasner is a lifetime 2-0, 4.91 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 2 starts against the Jays. He is a nightmarish 2-9, 6.04 ERA, 1.70 WHIP over his last 14 games (13 starts) since May 26.
A.J. Burnett is a lifetime 5-2, 2.85 ERA, 1.06 WHIP in 8 starts against the Yanks. He is a ridiculous 3-0, 1.23 ERA, 0.92 WHIP over his last 4 starts against them.
Yanks' hitters vs. Burnett can be viewed here. Jays' hitters vs. Rasner can be viewed here.
GODZILLA RETURNS: Hideki Matsui has been activated off the DL and will be in the Yankee lineup for the first time since June 22. Justin Christian has been sent back down to Scranton to make room on the active roster.

Gonna be a rough series
Burnett and Halladay OWN this team and the other kid is a lefty they’ve never seen before. Yuck.

Damn,
but it’s nice when a hit-and-run works like that.

Same old, same old from Glass Carl...
I find this pretty funny:
PAVANO SKIPS BULLPEN SESSION
STIFF NECK PUTS SATURDAY START IN DOUBT
TORONTO — Yankees pitcher Carl Pavano came out of a minor-league rehab start Sunday with stiffness in his neck and didn’t throw a bullpen session today.
Pavano has been sidelined seemingly forever with a list of injuries ranging from a balky back to a bruised buttocks to rotator cuff tendinitis to a torn elbow ligament.
“He came out of his start with stiffness,” Joe Girardi said before the game against the Blue Jays. “I don’t think it had anything to do with him not (throwing a bullpen).”

this literally cannot be true
Now he’s a pain in the ass and a pain in the neck? This has to be someone’s idea of a joke.

Pathetic
This team is amazing at wasting good pitching performances

Where's Brett Gardner when you need him?
Hell, Gardner could strike out 4 times too.

U-G-L-Y
I’m getting tired of watching this team play like the bad news bears late in games. So much for veteran savvy and getting back to the basics with fundementals. Time to ask Walter Matthau to get a six pack and help us win some games.

How about some play by play
for those of us stuck on Gameday… What went wrong?

dropped a long fly ball to center. He was on the warning track – leaning against the wall, pretty much. But it was catchable. Instead, it let in the go-ahead (now winning) run.

...
A blooper over Overbay at first while running after it toward right field. Alex gets gunned down by ten feet at second trying to stretch it into a double.

How many times...
has Kay said, “this will be a very tough one to lose”? It’s obvious this team has no stones when we need it. This team doesn’t deserve to get into the postseason

I just cant wait for this season to be over
These guys need the offseason to get there priorities straight. Johnny “Stone hands” Damon needs to really get his head on.
by MedFan on Aug 19, 2008 9:43 PM EDT 0 recs
Let's be fair
Damon is about the only batter that is doing better this season than everyone predicted. He’s been decent in the outfield sans tonight’s game. This team needs the ghost of Billy Martin to come back and flip over some water coolers in the club house and wake this team that is obviously sleep walking through ’08

The season is gone.
The run is over…One of the last moves King George ever made looks to be the one that sunk us since 03. Picking Sheffield over Mr. Angel.
Cashman was correct on that one, but then couldn’t figure out how to phase out Giambi. He needed to get Texiera in here last year.
