Well, maybe Greinke will have a rough outing

He says himself that he has been terrible at the Stadium. Maybe it’s gotten into his head.

Nonetheless, I’d like to have him on my team. I’m a fan of the kid. He’s got outstanding stuff and he’s still very young.

Is Greinke the one

who bailed on Spring Training a couple seasons ago for ‘personal reasons’?

He was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder

It’s not really that big of a deal or uncommon. It just happened at a bad time and he now unfairly has a scarlet letter pinned on his chest because of it.

Hell, Donnie Osmond was diagnosed with the same thing and that was 25 years after he’d been in show business.

It’s not really a big deal. People can and do overcome it all the time.

I'd missed

(or forgotten) the diagnosis.
Yeah, if the Royals shopped him I’d have to look, but I’m not sure I’d want to give up enough to bring him into the fishbowl.

I really hope the Yanks trade Cano during the offseason

Check this out from this morning’s Bergen Record:

Cabrera took the fall Friday for his best friend on the team, for the player whose slump is much more responsible for the Yankees being in this desperate last-ditch playoff push: Robinson Cano. As the news of various roster moves rippled through the clubhouse Friday afternoon, the surprise wasn’t that management had taken away someone’s job, but rather that Cabrera and his limited potential was the guy to get the ax.

Quietly, players wondered whether the move really was aimed at Cano, whose lackadaisical play is infinitely more frustrating than his .262 average entering Friday’s game. His failure to run out grounders, just like his recent defensive disinterest in diving for balls, is leaving more than just the fans annoyed. Perhaps seeing his closest friend headed to the bus leagues will be enough to shake Cano out of the season-long doldrums. But if that’s what the Yankees really wanted, then they should have taken aim directly at their second baseman. Because based on talent, he is a much bigger disappointment than Cabrera.

Now I had never been in the “trade Cano” camp until this season. I just feel that he’s never going to hit his ceiling because of his lack of focus and energy everyday.

It doesn’t take an ounce of talent to play hard on a daily basis and Cano just doesn’t do it for whatever reason.

Whether the Yanks actually move Cano remains to be seen, but I know I would if I was calling the shots. I wouldn’t give him away, but I would find a young outfielder that could play everyday for the next several years (ie: Matt Kemp).

I'd support it this season

Orlando Hudson is a free agent, though the dislocated wrist worries me.
I can’t find an article to back it up at the moment, but I remember reading that he’d consider a discount to play in NY (Mets or Yanks).

Hudson would have been my first choice

but that was before his wrist injury.

Those take a long time to heal properly. He may be ready to go in 2009, but it usually take a full year to regain the strength back.

It took Matsui a full year after he broke his wrist to get his power stroke back.

I like Mark Ellis as a FA option. Not a flashy guy. But a guy who fits the old Scott Brosius mold like the Yanks of the late 90s.

If

Ellis will leave Oakland. I’ve heard he loves it there.

Kemp

would be a steal because he can play CF.

Indeed

Long term, Kemp is more of a corner outfielder. But he can move over to LF/RF once Jackson is in the mix in 2010.

I’d love to see Kemp and Jackson patrolling the Yankee outfield for years to come. That’s what they need to offset the aging vets.

Damon

should also be included in any Cano deal while he still has some value left. As a 2-fer we should be able to get some valuable youth back.

That double

is only the second xbh of Gardner’s career…

capitalize on the rare scoring chance.

Man, they need a walk off win

Mo losing the lead in 8 of 10 tie games is freaky.

I'm gonna puke

Why do we leave a small villiage on the basepaths every single game? How can so many great players continue to struggle with runners on base? It’s maddening to watch this team all season.

Did I just see a hit and run

with I-Rod on first and Gardner at the plate?

I can’t help but wonder after finally watching the old-timers game off of my DVR this morning, that this team wouldn’t have faired better with Mattingly at the helm. I do know one thing, while it was a grand gathering for the ages, there was one gaping hole that needs to be plugged back up by begging Donny to come back home. While I don’t dislike Girardi, Donny (in my view) earned that job in every way possible.

Looking back on this season, it looks like two big mistakes were made.

I am still here rooting for this team and still have hopes they will kick it up a notch for their manager’s sake.

If not, I wouldn’t be against having Donny back to right this ship while opening the new stadium.

If they fire

a former manager of the year, after the first year of a three year deal, they’re not doing it to bring in a rookie skipper. They’d have to have somebody with a ring to his name at the helm.

I disagree.

I guess I am not a guy that looks at tangibles when considering someone for a managerial position. No offense, but I think Girardi might have reaped the benefits of an overachieving Florida Marlins team.

Nice win today. Let’s hope the youngster stirs up the old folks home a little.

But the guys who are really running the show

Hal Steinbrenner and Cashman – both wanted Girardi last season. They aren’t firing him after one season, given the debacle of last season regarding Torre.

Never gonna happen.

Oh I know.

One can hope though.

It's great to know

we only need 3 errors in an inning to put some runs on the board. YES! The FAILkees strike again, baby!
