PREGAME NOTES:

The Yanks go for their first series win since July 25 - 27 against the Red Sox at Fenway.

The Yanks are just 3-6 on their 10-game road trip, which ends today.

Johnny Damon's 14-game hitting streak is his longest as a Yankee and is hitting .483 (29-for-60) over that stretch.

Robinson Cano is 1-for-12 in the month of August with RISP.

Darrell Rasner is a lifetime 1-1, 3.71 ERA, 1.29 WHIP in 3 starts against the Twins.  He is a dreadful 2-5, 6.25 ERA, 1.61 WHIP in 8 games (7 starts) on the road this season.

Kevin Slowey is a lifetime 0-1, 9.00 ERA, 1.89 WHIP in 2 starts against the Yanks.  He is 4-4, 3.71 ERA, 0.98 WHIP in 8 starts at the Metrodome this season.

Yanks' hitters vs. Slowey can be viewed here.  Twins' hitters vs. Rasner can be viewed here.

JETER OUT OF LINEUP:  Derek Jeter is out of the lineup today after suffering a bruised instep as a result of fouling the ball off his foot last night.

X-Rays last night were negative and is expected to be back in the lineup on Friday.

Are the Twins wearing throwbacks?

Or did you just feel like using a logo from the franchise’s earlier days?

Don't question my choice of teams, or I will have to go all troll on you.

I do that all the time

Any old jerseys / caps / or logos is fair game – even when the franchise played in a different city.

Ohhh... okay. I got all excited because I love throwbacks.

seems to be cleared up

Now we can get back to the business of losing.

This is nothing new

Age is a huge factor with this team and a big reason why they always look so flat.

That’s why they need to let Abreu and Giambi walk at the end of the year and install some youth and energy into this team.

sigh

Another lost day in a lost year.
