The Lost Weekend: Yankees Swept
Friday---Yankees lose 10-5...Starting pitcher (IPK) lasts 2 IP.
Saturday---Yankees lose 11-4...Bullpen gives up 8 R's in bottom of the 8th.
Sunday---Yankees lose 4-3...Yanks leave runner on third with less than one out numerous times. That's a kind way of saying that they choked with runners in scoring position as usual.
Three loses in three different ways. It doesn't get much worse.

talk to me
when the Disney Angels have more than one ring in their history. a good series against an injury riddled team is hardly reason for you to try to make yourself feel better.

I was there, it was ugly
I am usually an optimist about the Yankees, refusing to participate in all the “it’s over” talk until it’s REALLY over, but this team, with the play they have shown in the past two weeks, is not making the playoffs.
My feeling sitting there the whole day, especially after we left runners on third with one out twice, was they are going to find a way to lose. I hate feeling this way about this team but I have no confidence in them. Its a strange feeling for a Yankee fan.
Reggie Jackson sat down next to me in the 3rd inning. That made this worth the trip to the bi A, But even Mr. October is not showing much enthusiasm for the team is “specially advising”. We may be out of contention before we ever play another game at Yankee Stadium.

the only positive thing we've got going for us
is the fact that we’re chasing Boston. We’ve still got their number. If it comes down to that series at Fenway at the end of the year, I think they Yankees can take them. The problem is, we’ve only got 6 games against Boston. Even if we take all 6, we’re not playing well enough against the rest of the league to make that series in Septemer count.

And Minnesota stands between us and Boston
While taking the Red Sox out of the playoffs could be a consolation, it would be a small one.

As a Halos fan
I think you all kind of got robbed in that last game. Not sure what Cano was doing there, sort of sulking after Figgy’s grounder. And let’s be honest: that tag call on ARod stealing third was questionable.
But I’d like to send you all good mojo in the coming weeks, as I would sincerely love it if the Yanks found a way to come back against Boston. Seriously. I want them out of the post season – not because I think they’re a threat, but it would make me happy to see them sad. I reserve all my ire for Boston and the bandwagon-jumping band of poseurs with a B on their ballcap. Go get ‘em.
