PREGAME NOTES:

  • Yanks have lost 5 of their last 6 games and 9 of their last 14.
  • Johnny Damon is still on the active roster, so no decision has been made yet whether he's headed to the DL.  As of this writing, the Yanks' #4 outfielder is Wilson Betemit.
  • Pete Abe notes that Jorge Posada is a bit under the weather, so he's out of the lineup.
  • Justin Masterson has never faced the Yanks.  He is 1-2, 4.58 ERA, 1.30 WHIP in 3 road starts this season.
  • Mike Mussina is a lifetime 19-17, 3.80 ERA, 1.24 WHIP in 54 starts against the Red Sox.  He is 0-3, 9.30 ERA, 1.92 WHIP in his last 4 starts against them.
  • Yanks' hitters vs. Moose can be viewed here.

we have no bench

We’ve had not bench figuratively all year. Now we almost literally have no bench. If they need a pinch hitter, they’re going to have to send a mannequin up there dressed in a uniform. I can’t wait for this year to end.

Joe Buck

sucks. I hate this guy. I wish he would stop announcing baseball games and go host the Bachelor.

I don't have a problem with Buck

It’s McCarver who I don’t like.

Looks like Moose has done his job again

Now it would be nice to see the offense follow suit.

Bases loaded

Twice with one out and we score only one run sure isn’t following his lead. Not good to make Moose try to pitch too fine.

That was great to see

In terms of the future. Hopefully, Gardner can keepo the good at-bats going. Should turn into hits soon.

I hope so

I wanted him to replace Melky, but now he’s replacing Damon so he needs to get on base to help this team.

i know you can basically give it to A-Rod or Mo every year

but outside of those two, is there any doubt Mussina is the Yanks’ MVP this season?

if he was where he was at in 2007, this team would probably be 10 games under .500.

Boy, I guess Mo wanted to give us a heart attack today

BTW, perhaps the most amazing thing about Mo’s season is I believe this is the first time his ERA has been over 1.00.

It’s now at 1.17.

Unreal.

i know he pitched poorly today

but there is nobody in baseball history that i would rather have there in a bases-loaded no out situation, and a one-run lead.

Ditto

Can’t argue with that one iota.

Yeah but

He put himself in that situation. I do recall the 2004 playoffs and that world series game against the diamondbacks. I think I flat lined atleast 5 times during that inning. Fansworth hit 99. Wow!!!
