PREGAME NOTES:

Newly acquired Pudge Rodriguez has arrived to the Bronx and is in tonight's starting lineup batting eighth. It will be interesting to see how well he works with these Yankee pitchers over the next week or two.
Chris Britton has been recalled from Scranton to take Kyle Farnworth's vacated roster spot. As expected, Chad Moeller has been DFA'd.
Jon Garland is a lifetime 3-5, 4.26 ERA, 1.44 WHIP against the Yanks. He is 6-2, 4.58 ERA, 1.47 WHIP in 9 starts on the road this season.
Andy Pettitte is a lifetime 12-6, 4.02 ERA, 1.36 WHIP in 22 starts against the Angels. He is 7-2, 2.11 ERA, 1.05 WHIP over his last 9 starts this season.

In case you missed it, the Yanks did make a minor trade today and sent Scranton infielder Alberto Gonzalez to the Washington Nationals for minor league pitcher Jhonny Nunez.
Ramirez suspended: Pete Abe reports that MLB has suspended Edwar Ramirez for three games after throwing near Kevin Millar's head on Wednesday afternoon. He has appealed his sentence and will likely get it reduced by one game.

I don't know much about him myself

But here’s the Rototimes take:

Nunez has some upside. He posted a 4.85 ERA over two levels in the minors, but he held a 90/27 K/BB rate over 89 innings. He’ll likely do to Double-A Trenton.

He throws hard and has some good strikeout totals. That’s about all I know about him.
