Nice job, Melky

You suck. Melky was actually distracted by the Bleacher Creatures doing their roll call.

Rasner

Looks like he got through that inning unscathed, lets score some runs tonight again.

Hello

You Guys wouldnt Mind if a Fan of Both Teams joined the debate would you?

If your Wondering

I was Born and Lived about 10 years of my Life in NYC, Then Moved to Minnesota Because my fathers job was relocated.

Understood

I’ve lived in the Chicagoland area all my life but I’m a diehard Yankee fan.

by anaconda on Jul 22, 2008 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

oh i hear ya.

The Yanks are one of those teams that if you start liking them, your hooked

The Common Loon why

by Tony_O on Jul 22, 2008 7:22 PM EDT up reply actions

No I was joking

I visited there when I was younger up in Ely & Duluth and a guy up there told me that Mosquito’s are the state bird of Minnesota.

by MedFan on Jul 22, 2008 7:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Well i could see why

Their are alot of Twins Fans here that say they are the best team in Baseball Period, they think that Keeping Francisco Liriano in the minor Leagues when hes been pitching great is the best thing for him, its annoys you like mosquitos.

This Game

Has the Makings of one of those Pitchers Duels.

by Tony_O on Jul 22, 2008 7:31 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe not with Rasner on the mound

The sooner the Yanks replace him and Ponson – the better.

Seems like the Yanks are after Jarrod Washburn, who would most definitely be an upgrade over either of them.

I hope Alfredo Aceves keeps pitching well in the minors because I think he’s another arm that could help them a few weeks down the road.

Ada Boy

Robby, Puttin the Yanks in the Lead

by Tony_O on Jul 22, 2008 7:39 PM EDT reply actions

Sure is Nice

To see Robbie start hitting.

Dare I say it to Soon

Rasner is doing a good job tonight…...

by MedFan on Jul 22, 2008 7:49 PM EDT reply actions

No matter how well he pitches tonight

They still need to make a change.

He wasn’t a long term solution in May and he certainly isn’t one now. He’s your typical AAAA pitcher.

Anaconda

Who would you like to them call up?

by MedFan on Jul 22, 2008 8:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd like to see Aceves get a call-up

They got him from the Mexican League over the offseason and all he’s done in the minors is get hitters out.

Here’s his 2008 stats.

He started tonight for Scranton and struggled a bit (3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER—65 pitches), but he’s been outstanding this year and was on a 60-70 pitch count tonight.

He lost about 3 weeks due to a groin injury or he might be just a week or two away from making his big league debut.

Aceves does not throw hard. But he throws everything in his arsenal for strikes and has great command. He’s also not afraid to throw any pitch in any count.

I expect him to make his debut at some point this season.

by anaconda on Jul 22, 2008 8:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Ugh.

Boy, is this an ugly inning.

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 8:38 PM EDT reply actions

Lets get him out of here

Before something real crappy happen’s

by MedFan on Jul 22, 2008 8:43 PM EDT reply actions

Like that?

These umps suck. From the strike zone to the base calling.

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

In that case

you should know that none of last inning was really Rasner’s fault. There should have been a double play to end the inning that scored the go-ahead, but the first base ump was stupid about the call. And this strike zone is tiny.

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions

I was actually just thinking...

“when was the last time Bobby hit a homer?”

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 8:58 PM EDT reply actions

Kay just said it.

It’s his first home run since June 25th.

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Eh, he hit it decently.

Just not enough on it to go out and not shallow enough to bloop. Remember, even if he were a superb hitter, he’d only be getting that hit 1/3 times.

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Indeed

BTW, it’s worth noting that the Yanks have lost just one game all season in which they have a lead after 6.

The one loss?

The game which Joba gave up a 3-run homer to David Dellucci way back in April.

by anaconda on Jul 22, 2008 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions

But nice

to see the wheels come off the apple cart for the other team for a change.

by Rusty23 on Jul 22, 2008 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Robertson has been great so far

And he’ll earn his second win of the season tonight if the score stands as is. And he threw just one pitch in relief of Rasner.

by anaconda on Jul 22, 2008 10:00 PM EDT reply actions

Random

But the Mets three run ninth inning lead is quickly evaporating against the Phillies.

It’s now 5-2 bases loaded no outs. Wagner has shoulder spasms.

As I type they tied the game. 5-5, stil no outs.

If I open my window I can hear the crying from Queens.

Ahhhhhh.....

that’s good stuff.

I’m sure Santana is thrilled about that long term deal with the Mets.

by anaconda on Jul 22, 2008 10:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm sure met fans

feel the same way about Yankee fans, but if they weren’t so damn annoying I wouldn’t enjoy their misery as much as I do.

Yeah

I think the booing can reach all the way to Manhattan.

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 10:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Tampa Bay got killed today, too.

Not a bad day for the Yankees. Maybe the Red Sox will screw up against the Mariners?

by dzawaki on Jul 22, 2008 10:06 PM EDT reply actions

another great game tonight

rasner was good- i’ll sign up for 5.2 and 2 runs any day. and the bullpen was lights out once again.

the bats were alive for two games in a row- crazy… hopefully they saved some for tomorrow when i am at The Stadium.

double digits: ten games over .500 for the first time all year.. good stuff. Keep it rolling boys…
