PREGAME NOTES:
- Kim Jones said on the YES pregame that Johnny Damon should be ready to return to action within the next few days. A short rehab assignment is not out of the question.
- Jorge Posada was hit on the hand twice yesterday and had trouble throwing the ball yesterday. It appears that we're going to see more of Jose Molina behind the plate over the next few days.
- Yanks have won 6 straight games at the Stadium and 7 of their last 10 overall.
- Justin Duchscherer is a lifetime 1-1, 4.20 ERA, 1.33 WHIP in 8 games (one start) against the Yanks. He is 3-4, 2.53 ERA, 1.10 WHIP in 7 starts on the road this season.
- Andy Pettitte is a lifetime 9-5, 3.42 ERA, 1.18 WHIP in 18 starts against the Athletics. He is 4-4, 4.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP in 10 starts at the Stadium this season.
- Athletics' career numbers vs. Pettitte can be viewed here. Yanks' career numbers vs. Duchscherer can be viewed here.

Out by a mile
for the second time in 3 days. Maybe we ought to look at the scouting report on the kid in right field.

Three words:
Bobby Meachem sucks. He’s running this team into too many outs they can’t afford.
I bet Wilie Randolph is the third base coach next season.

Meachem is terrible.
He’s Wendell Kim bad. I’d love Willie manning 3rd base but I don’t see that happening.

It just might happen
Randolph isn’t going to get a managing job again – at least not right away. And the Yanks are a logical choice for his next coaching destination.

I didn't know Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, and Steve Carlton were pitching in the series
Yankee pitchers have struck out 38 hitters in 26 IP in the series. The A’s sure make a lot of no contact.

How to know when the AP reporter...
covering the game decided to take ‘5’:
“The Yankees scored first when Jeter hit a one-out double that bounced over the center-field wall in the third. Abreu moved him up with a single, and Rodriguez hit a high fly to right. The throw to the plate from Sweeney was just up the line and Jeter scored standing up.” (AP at espn.com)
What’s really funny about that is watching the video replay in the box on the same page (Game Recap at ESPN) ... and seeing Jeter clearly sliding into home.
