PREGAME NOTES:

  • Yanks have scored just 7 runs in their last 4 games and are hitting just .172 BA and .176 RISP.  Yikes.
  • For just the second time all season, Melky Cabrera is sitting on the bench tonight and Brett Gardner will make the start in CF.  Hooray!
  • Luis Mendoza has never faced the Yanks.  He is 1-1, 7.59 ERA, 1.59 WHIP in 4 games (2 starts) on the road this season.
  • Sidney Ponson is a lifetime 8-2, 4.82 ERA, 1.41 WHIP in 17 games (15 starts) against the Rangers.
  • Rangers' hitters vs. Ponson can be viewed here.
  • Worthy of noteChad Jennings reports that both Shelley Duncan and Alan Horne have been placed on the 7-day DL.  Duncan suffered a separated shoulder on a diving catch last night and could be out for the rest of the season.  Horne is suffering from a "tired arm" so it sounds rather minor.

I'm so excited to watch Ponson again

Not…I hope he proves me wrong. What a mess and Girardi’s been stinking up the joint.

Your wish has been granted. Not a nice move by Jose to throw a fake ball in the seats. Heh

This team is awful

He should have bunted Damon. Jeter has been horrible along with most everybody…

Alright.

Here we go.

Memo to Girardi

Don’t even think about changing this lineup tomorrow.

Never mess with a 12 run lineup (and counting).

NO TINKERING!!!!!
(and no Melky)

I'd still rather see Gardner but

Lester’s pitching. So I’ll bet Joe uses Melky.

I think Gardner will play

I just see Melky in CF. Damon will probably be the DH and WB out of the lineup.

Or something like that.

oh christ

a lefty.

There’s no telling what bullshit lineup Joe will throw out there.

Leave Gardner in, he can run all day on Varitek’s rag arm.

Well....

Girardi did say the other day that he’s up there to play – not sit on the bench. I guess we’ll have to see.

The logical choice would be take Betemit out if Girardi wants to insist on putting Melky back in there.

He could also

DH Posada and catch Molina.

Jorge will have no chance against Ellsbury, or Crisp if he plays.

Also true

But if they DH Posada then either Damon or Gardner is probably out of the lineup. I really think Girardi is going to put Melky back out there tomorrow even though he doesn’t deserve it.

hank should

yell at this team every day

Gardner flies

Leave him in…

by John Amato on Jul 2, 2008 10:15 PM EDT   0 recs

Nice going, Farnsy

Walk the leadoff hitter when your team just scored 9 runs.

by anaconda on Jul 2, 2008 10:17 PM EDT   0 recs

hey hey hey

Let’s save some of these runs for the weekend.

by long time listener on Jul 2, 2008 10:34 PM EDT   0 recs

Heh I was thinking the same thing. Watch, tomorrow they will not be able to muster a hit.

by bronxbound on Jul 2, 2008 10:39 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

well they needed these two extra runs

They need all the cushion they can get for Hawkins.

by long time listener on Jul 2, 2008 10:42 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Haha I agree.
