Is it just me

or does Rasner bear a striking resemblance to Aaron Small?—stat wise, of course…

For those who haven't heard it....

check out Pete Abe’s audio press conference on the Yanks’ first pick – Gerrit Cole.

He’s only 17 years old but he sounds like he’s 12.

Wow

He does sound young- but Soriano always had a surprisingly high voice.

I like that he says

My favorite pitcher is probably Jake Peavy- he plays for the San Diego Padres… yeah, Gerritt, we’ve heard of him…

Absolutely...

I’ve read a scouting report or two that says he pitches like Peavy too. That’s a good thing, well, except in the postseason.

Something's wrong

with Gameday- I’ve got no Pf/x info on my screen, anyone else having this problem?

Kudos to Mike A of RAB for pointing his out

The Jays drafted this kid by the name of Nate Nelson in Rd #40. He is 6-6, 300 LBS and plays 1B. And he’s probably got a career as Kimbo Slice’s bodyguard if he wants it .

It’s safe to say that Coco Crisp would probably have a few extra bruises on his face had Nelson tackled him instead of Jonny Ghomes.

BTW...

The draft has now concluded.

Yanks had 51 picks and 25 of them were pitchers (6 lefties).

Obviously, not all of these guys are going to sign, but the plan to stockpile as many good arms as possible is still a central part of their organizational strategy.

Is there

...an online list. Several kids from my hometown area (Utica – CNY) were being scouted.

I wasn't planning

on doing a full write up on the late rounds. There are a few interesting guys (Chris Dwyer, Ben McMahon, Garrison Lassiter) but until they’re wearing uniforms, I’m not going to get excited about them.

I just want to say

I doubted Darryl Rasner. I thought he was a AAAA pitcher at best who could never be useful to the Yanks this season beyond a rare spot start.
Now I just need a way to wake those bats…

I

agree. He’s looked good lately. Cano has come out of his coma too. Five left in scoring position so far hurts though.

Any chance of seeing Mo

in the 9th? When was the last time he pitched?

Man O Man

That was horrible and indicative of this season. Nice call.
