- Jorge Posada makes his first start since April 25 and just his tenth start behind the plate this season. You can bet the ranch that the Jays' base runners will test that shoulder early and often.
- Jason Giambi remains out of the starting lineup for the second straight game with a sore foot as a result of being HBP on Tuesday night.
- Johnny Damon is on an offensive rampage going 27 for 57 (.474/.508/.649) over his last 14 games and has raised his BA for the season from .250 to .310.
- Chien-Ming Wang is a lifetime 4-2, 3.98 ERA, 1.27 WHIP in 8 starts against the Jays, including 1-0, 2.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIP in 2008 when he pitched his team to a 2-1 victory over Roy Halladay on Opening Day.
- Dustin McGowan is a lifetime 2-2, 5.21 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 10 games (6 starts) against the Yanks, including a no decision in the opening series of the season (6.0 IP, 2 ER).
- Yanks' career numbers vs. McGowan can be viewed here. Jays' career numbers vs. Wang can be viewed here.

where is everybody?
Girardi uses Ohlendorf in a close game, and I’m thinking, “good, he’ll finally give this kid a chance at short stints in close games” . Then he comes back the very next day and uses him in the 5th inning of a 7-2 game???
The only plan with this guy is he has no plan.
"Well, that kind of puts a damper on even a Yankees win."
-- Phil Rizzuto after hearing about the Pope's death
Indeed
I thought Girardi would handle bullpens better than this. He’s misused Ohlendorf most of the season and had refused to use a guy like Britton who just might be able to get some hitters out.
Hey, I’m not expecting Rob Dibble, but Britton does have a track record.
They should have scored 6 runs on McGowan
Oh well. I’ve been paying close attention to the draft, so I’ve been switching back and forth.
No kidding
Very pleasantly surprised that he and Giambi have turned it around. Now if the rest of the team could play defense, pitch and hit with runners in scoring position like opposing teams do, the Yanks could be a better than .500 ballclub.
do the Yanks still have fight left in them??

i hate farnsworth
trade him for 10 bats please
If they lose
It falls squarely on Melky. I know errors happen but that was the worst possible time to boot a ball. He had an inning ending double play if he catches that ball.
If they lose.
I love these games
Nothing like a game where you’re cursing them out for blowing just about every opportunity, then they pull a win out of nowhere. I mean, Kyle Farnsworth still needs to be dropped out of the team charter somewhere over Kansas, but sometimes these wins can be a spark.
