PREGAME NOTES:
- Ed Price reports that Jorge Posada has been activated off the DL but is not in the starting lineup. He also noted that Posada will need surgery on his shoulder after the season to repair his labrum.
- Dan Giese has been optioned back to Scranton to make room for Posada on the roster.
- Jason Giambi is out of the starting lineup after fouling a ball off his foot last night. He is expected back tomorrow, but could pinch hit tonight.
- Mike Mussina is a lifetime 23-12, 3.35 ERA, 1.14 WHIP in 42 starts against the Jays, including 0-1. 4.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP in one start in 2008.
- Jesse Litsch is a lifetime 1-1, 6.08 ERA, 1.50 WHIP in 3 starts against the Yanks. He was 4-0, 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP in 6 starts during the month of May.

Sorry to see Giese go but I think they are getting wise to the fact that the fans and media and even Cashman are perplexed by the Britton yo yo effect. I hope Giese comes back.
Brian Bruney is throwing from a chair and says it’s not bad considering. He says he’s throwing pretty hard and can get high school guys out. Farnsworth and Hawkins were heard to ask how they can fracture their foot and throw from a chair in the hopes they could rise to the level of getting high school guys out.

but Bruney is a guy this team really misses right now. High walk totals, attitude and all.
well he seemed to change the attitude this year
he lost it when he lost the weight.
I hope the inactivity isn’t causing him weight gain. Brian Bruney….come back! I can’t believe I said that…

Logic would suggest he gained at least some of that back
Pretty tough to stay in good physical shape when he was forced to stay off his foot for awhile.
