PREGAME NOTES:

  • In case you were wondering, this is the third time the Yanks and Mets have played a day-night doubleheader in different yards on the same day.  The Yanks swept the first two twin-bills back in 2000 and 2003.
  • According to Pete Abe, Hideki Matsui is headed for the DL once Sidney Ponson is activated before Game 2.  Looks like a good opportunity for Justin Christian [or, cough, Brett Gardner] to make a difference.
  • Johnny Damon is out of the lineup in Game 1, but is expected to play in Game 2.
  • Mike Pelfry has never faced the Yanks or any of their hitters.
  • Dan Giese has never faced the Mets or any of their hitters.

Stupid work

I’m missing out on a double header to grade papers. Sure I could have done it during the rain delay last night- but why do today what you can put off until tomorrow, right?

Melky

I’ve been pretty pro-Melky all along, but it’s high time to throw someone who can hit into the mix.

there's a hit for Melky

I knew my anonymous Internet criticism would get him going.

My 9 announcers?

Who are these dipshits? They just criticized Melky for waving off Abreu on the Wright fly ball in the 3rd. Castillo on 2nd, fly ball to right-center…Melky waves off Abreu (even though normally the RF has a better play on the ball due to their momentum)....

anyway, one of these dipshits says “and Abreu has a better arm than Melky does anyway.”

huh?

Not hardly numbnuts…..have you guys ever watched a Yankee game in your careers? The Melk man is not the best bat, but he has a gun and Abreu would have thrown a 22 hopper into 3rd.

I cannot stand when announcers do not know what in the hell they are talking about.

Cano

Looks like Cano again. He’s spraying line drives all over the field.

This bullpen

is wretched.

They have to replace some of the arms out there. Immediately.

My9? SNY!

Whenever the Yanks and Mets play, I ALWAYS listen to the Mets guys. SNY simply has an AMAZING team with Cohen, Darling and Hernandez. And WFAN has Howie Rose. I simply can’t stand Sterling anymore. He makes my ears bleed and my head explode. And don’t get me started on Michael Kay and the revolving door of airheads (except for Flaherty). Bobby Murcer helped me get through the first years of YES, but now he’s out and the world is a worse place for it.

Why is it the Yankees NEVER have quality radio and TV people? The last good ones were Al Trautwig and Charlie Steiner and Phil Rizutto. Kay wasn’t terrible on the radio, but on tv he’s unbearable. As much as I love Paul O’Neill and David Cone, please take them off YES. Ken Singleton needs more air time.

Anyways, this game sucks. I can’t believe we’re depending on Sidney Ponson to stop this bleeding.

You are insane!

Those idiots said that Abreu had a much better arm than Melky and wondered why he called off Bobby with a possible throw to 3rd coming. They obviously do not know shit about the Yankees. They are Mets guys, and are VERY “homerish” but apparently they know nothing about the Yanks.
