13 pitches, 11 fastballs.. between 94-99..

Anybody

know where i can at least LISTEN to the game online??

by kentuckygirl0724 on Jun 19, 2008 1:22 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nope

MLB.com has all radio and video broadcasts locked down behind their paywall. If you can’t get the game on tv or radio, you’ve got to pay them.

Yep

When I was at school in Maryland I had to follow all the games on Gameday- it certainly takes all the tension out of the game.

I can rarely catch a game on tv here – before playoff time anyway.

Joba has thrown a couple of sinkers.

by anaconda on Jun 19, 2008 1:45 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice

There’s not really a way to tell his fastballs apart on Gameday. I’m guessing the sinker is 94, the straight fastball 97.

I understand he is on a pitch count but what the hell is Joe doing? Let him finish the inning.

by macguyver on Jun 19, 2008 2:58 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't know either

Maybe he thought Joba was putting a lot of strain in his pitches?

"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."

by jscape2000 on Jun 19, 2008 3:02 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think they are just being very strict with his pitch count

He was at 100 pitches and his limit was 105. I guess he didn’t want to chance Tony Clark having an extended AB.

Plus, although Joba threw 88 pitches last time out – he essentially threw 80 pitches at full tilt because 8 of them were intentional walks.

by anaconda on Jun 19, 2008 3:09 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah

it would’ve been nice for him to at least have a shot to get the win..

Just don’t want him to pitch in any crucial situations.

If Banks stays in SD for awhile

He’s going to be a pretty good pitcher for that team. It’s a pitcher’s paradise and he’s got good stuff.

by anaconda on Jun 19, 2008 3:14 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ugh...

If Veras gets out of this right now, Farnsworth will face the middle of the order in the 8th.

A handful of insurance runs would be spiffy.

This game

feels like it has been far too exciting. I keep waiting for the offense to show up. I’ve gotten spoiled the last several games.

I'm not going to do it justice but....

He was talking about Rick Cerone and his 80s hairstyle with a spongy afro. He then said that Paul O’Neill has a similar 80s haircut til this day and keeps it that way hoping it will come back into style.

by anaconda on Jun 19, 2008 3:53 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Earlier in the game...

Kay and Flaherty were fighting back back and forth and going on about Fordham for a good minute or so.

Kay then asked what Cone thought about their argument and he said “Hey, we have a game here to broadcast.”

Farnsworth’s ERA at home is 5.28 with 6 homers in 17 IP. It’s like 3.12 on the road.

Good grief. Even Igawa has a far better ratio than that.

Good thing you're not listening to Sterling

He’s close to slipping into verse over Farnsies slider. “What a great pitch”

I feel sick

I know he scares us to death BUT

Farnsworth is doing a fair job. And giving the run when he has some slack and posting a 0 when we needed it seems good.

He did a good job today

But he’s been terrible again this season. He’s given up 9 homers in just 32 IP. That just unbelievably bad.
