Bronx Bound

Of the 15 pitchers I check in on each week, 2 are in the majors, 5 are on the DL, and of the remaining 8, I'd say about half are having good enough years that they might warrant a call up either now or in September.

That's actually a really fertile farm.

  • Alan Horne's first outing since April 10th looked decent: 4IP, 3H, 2BB, 7K; but his second outing wasn't as pretty: 6.1IP, 9H, 3BB, 3K.  I think he'll need a few weeks to round back into form before we can think about him for the Bronx, either as a starter or a reliever.
  • McCutchen's last start was a complete game shutout- no walk and 4 Ks.  I'd love to see him get the call if we need a spot starter.
  • Should we start a David Robertson watch?  Check out last week's line.  He can't be worse than Farnsworth...
  • It probably means nothing, but Jesus Montero (the slugging 18-year old catcher) doesn't have a team listed next to his name on the Minor League Search Page.  I doubt the Yanks would move him up midseason given their super cautious approach with Tabata, but the kid is hitting .309/.348/.453 in 67 games.  A trip to the A+ Tampa Yankees might be worth it, especially if the timetable for moving Jorge out from behind the plate has been sped up by his shoulder injury.
